Method:

1. Collect materials (per group):

- 2 x plastic cups with holes in bottom
- 1 x low-level container
- 2 x spoons
- 1 x container of soil
- 2 x plant seeds
- 1 x cup of water
- 1 x permanent marker
2. Write group number with permanent marker on the outside of both cups. Name one cup ‘A’ and
the other ‘B.’
3. Place two plastic cups with small holes in bottom into a low-level container.
4. Use a spoon to fill both plastic cups ¾ full with soil.
5. Place one seed slightly underneath the surface of soil in both containers.
6. Place five tablespoons of water in cup ‘A’ and one tablespoon of water in cup ‘B.’
