1. Introduction

1.1 Overview of the project

OMS is a web application project designed for restaurants that could help increase
efficiency and improve services provided to the customers through better application of
technology in daily operations.

This application is connected via wireless network that is connected to the kitchen and POS
(Point of Sales). When customer confirm the orders they will see the amount of each item
and also the total amount then the kitchen receives the order at the same time it is stored to
the POS (Point of sales) and can print the amount of the item’s ordered thus saving time and
helps you manage your sales and profit in daily, weekly and yearly basis.

1.2 Objectives of the Project

The objectives of this Project

1. Automatic ordering with use of mobile devices.

2. Auto generate of daily, monthly and yearly income.

3. Lessen paper works and increase level of accuracy.

4. Auto generate of costumers bill.

5. Customers can view their bill and ordered products.

6. To lessen the queueing of orders

7. To enable customers to have a confirmation that their order is ready and delivered
correctly.

8. To ensure correct placement of orders through visual confirmation.

9. Improve efficiency of restaurant’s staff.

2
10. Increase speed of service, sales volume and customer satisfaction.

11. To serve more customer by reducing the workload of restaurant staffs.

1.3 The Need of the Project

A manual system also means slower processing cycle times, leading to delays in
order, more workload and poor customer relationships after failing to meet service-level
agreements (SLA). Unhappy customers can lead to those customers not coming back,
instead finding another restaurant to eat. In addition, in an era of growing numbers of spin-
offs, food industries are faced with increased complexities in their business processes. Paper-
based order processing only complicates the situation and drives up costs.

So we came up with a solution to solve ordering system that allows customer to order
through mobile devices with at ease and to help restaurant owners not only manage the daily
activities but also to manage sales through analytic reports.

1.4 Overview of Existing Systems and technology

Food Ordering System Using Mobile Phone by LEONG WAI HONG consists
some use cases that are implemented in the OMS. But OMS is mainly focus only in food
restaurant unlike Food Ordering System which also includes beverage industry.

Main Technology associated with OSM

 Programming technologies (HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, Bootstrap)
 MySQL (Database)
 Mobile Device
 Management Tool (Trello)
 Chart and diagram design tools (Draw.io, Lucid Chart, Canva)
1.5 Scope of Project

System users

 Restaurant owner
 Restaurant Manager
 Kitchen Staffs
 Customers
 Cashier

Main use cases associated:

1. Restaurant owner and manager

 Can create account for staffs
 Change password
 View and filter sales report
 Check customer’s order
 Can update customer status
 View customer’s bill
 Print receipt
2. Kitchen Staffs

 Can choose order from different categories of product or menus
 Can add orders
 Can set table number

4
 View items ordered
 View total bill displayed
1.6 Deliverables

A web application system that ordering functionalities and has database for
restaurant owners, managers and customers. UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience)
will be different based on user type.

2. Feasibility Study
2.1 Financial Feasibility

Since OMS is an ordering system, it will require mobile device either smartphone or
tablet. Cost will depend on mobile device use. Even it is a web application, OMS will
function within restaurants and no need for hosting and domain. For the testing phase, no
cost will be charged from potential client. After system is proven effective client will have to
pay one time only. Maintenance including bug fixes and updates will have associated cost. At
early stage the target market will be local restaurant ranges from small to medium businesses.

It will be beneficial to both restaurant businesses and their customers since they
don’t need to fall in line and they can assign table numbers that are available. Productivity
will increase and workload will decrease for restaurant staffs since OMS will automate
ordering process. And not only that, you can effortlessly check you monthly sales through
simple analytic features of OMS.

It’ explicit to say that proposed OMS project is financially feasible.

2.2 Technical Feasibility

5
Project OMS is a web application combine with mobile devices. The main technology and
tools associated with OMS are the following:
 PHP (Scripting)
 Javascript
 MySQL (Database System)
 Sublime (Text Editor for codes)
 Eclipse (IDE)
 XAMPP (Web server)
 Apache (Server Application)
 MariaDB (Database)
 Management tool
 Trello
 Chart and diagram design tools
 Draw.io
 Lucid Chart
 Canva

Mentioned technologies are free to use and technical skills required are manageable.
Using this technology it will ease the work and product development within given time is
attainable since it is readily available.

2.3 Resource and Time Feasibility

Resources and time that are required for the OMS project includes:

 Programming device (Laptop & Desktop)

 Programming tools (Free)
 Web developer and Programmer
 System Development (3 months)

Clearly, OMS project is feasible both in resources and time.

2.4 Risk Feasibility

Event Action to mitigate

slower.
Manager/owner created unnecessary account. OMS has deleted feature to remove
unnecessary account.
Password has been compromised. OMS has change password feature.
Wrong order input. Customer can ask the staff to cancel the order.
Database if full. Backup data to other storage.
Customers especially elders have difficulty of Staff can assist the customers.
using the web application.
Maintenance or issues Our team will be the one to fix or update
OMS. Since it’s an OOP approached, this
system is highly maintainable.

2.5 Social/Legal Feasibility

The main beneficiary of this project are the customers and restaurant owners. Since
it is an open source system, only maintenance cost will be charged to the potential client.

3. Considerations
The use of mobile devices, POS (Point of Sales)and printer is necessary to ensure
OMS features are working properly. Customers can create account (optional) to revisit their
previous orders.
