I. Introduction/Administration: The construction of a pipeline follows a distinct sequence of activities, from fencing-off land, topsoil stripping
and pipe stringing, to welding, trenching, back-filling and land re-instatement. This lesson lays the process out step-by-step together with the
applicable parts of Part 195 and some tips for being safe while inspecting a pipeline construction project.

Review/Tie-in: Problems and incidents on a pipeline sometimes originate during the construction process.
Motivation: Inspection of the design and construction process can help prevent some of these problems from becoming a future hazard to
public safety. Doing so in a safe personal manner is just icing on the cake.
Lesson Objectives: After this session, the participants will be able to:
A. Relate the requirements for installation of components in a pipeline.
B. Evaluate if components meet code requirements.
