1. Six held for lawyer’s murder 10:06 16/09/2019 News24
2. Weekend Witness reported on Saturday that Msomi had been inside the pub,
Saki, at Victoria Centre, chatting with some work colleagues when a black
Hyundai parked outside the pub. Apparently, the car moved closer to the
entrance of the pub and two men climbed out and entered Saki.
One of the men was allegedly seen shaking Msomi’s friend’s hand and was later
seen smoking and chatting outside to some of the people Msomi was with.
It is believed Msomi left the pub just after 1 am and started walking to his car.
The man who had been seen smoking was then seen running to the Hyundai,
fetching something from the car and then running towards Msomi’s car before
Msomi had reached his vehicle, a white Hilux double cab.
Msomi was shot once in the head and his car was stolen. It was subsequently
found dumped near UKZN.
The suspects were arrested in the vicinity.
The two men will appear in court next Monday.

1. Mom's exboyfriend handed life sentence for killing
her daughter
20:43 17/09/2019
2. The former boyfriend of a Riebeek West mom has been handed a life
sentence in the Western Cape High Court for murdering the woman's daughter.
In its summary of facts, the State charged that Heyns had in the past threatened
Yvonne, saying he would harm her child.
Days prior to the fiveyearold's death, Heyns had accosted, insulted and
assaulted Yvonne, and on the morning of July 30, 2017, he harassed her on her
way to work.
Yvonne had returned home from work and could not find Kaithlyn, who was last
seen playing with her friends near Heyns' home on the day she was killed. She
had been in her grandparents' care at the time.
Heyns and Swarts were seen together that day, with Swarts allegedly pushing a
wheelbarrow from outside Heyns' home to a vineyard near the local railway line.
Kaithlyn's body had been inside and the pair had been disposing of it.
Swarts eventually pointed out where the little girl had been dumped.
When her body was found, black insulation tape had been tightly wrapped
around her nose and eyes. There was a face cloth in her mouth.

second accused fails to show up at court
News24 13:21 27/09/2019 Kamva Somdyala
The Cape Town Magistrates' Court has issued an immediate warrant of arrest for
the 26yearold man who is facing various assault charges relating to the AlNoor
Orphanage Centre in Woodstock, Cape Town.
He was arrested in July on two charges of assault with intent to do grievous
bodily harm, sexual assault and the sexual grooming of a child.
The centre's 49yearold manager is facing charges of conspiracy to commit
fraud and three charges of contravening the Immigration Act.
She is currently out on R5 000 bail.
News24 understands that the second accused is a senior staff member at the
centre.
'I don't know where he is'
The Department of Social Development removed 17 children from the centre
after allegations of physical and sexual abuse surfaced in June this year.
Appearing on behalf of the accused, advocate S Hlela informed the court that she
had not seen her client prior to his matter being called.
A brief search by the court orderlies for the man confirmed that he was not
present.
"I don't know where he is," Hlela said, thereafter acknowledging that the only
course of action would be to issue a warrant of arrest.
His warrant of arrest was signed off by the court. His bail, in effect, was
withdrawn.
The matter was postponed to October 11.

2. A 32yearold KwaZuluNatal man who threatened his victims with a knife
before raping them was sentenced to seven life terms in prison, police said on
Saturday.
Mlungisi Mjoli, a repeat offender, was sentenced in the KwaZuluNatal High Court
in Durban, on Friday, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane
said.
Zwane said the man preyed on women in Intsikeni, Chatsworth, Inanda and
KwaDukuza. He broke into their homes and also targeted women walking alone
at night.
"He would threaten his victims with a knife and rape them," Zwane said.
In 2010, Mjoli was sentenced to nine years in prison for a rape, which he
committed in Umzimkhulu. He was later released on parole in 2014.
But that year Mjoli started raping women again.
In March 2017, Mjoli was arrested in Tongaat for dealing and possession of
drugs. That matter is still before the courts.
"In some of the cases, the accused was arrested and released by the court. After
his release, he continued with his evil deeds," Zwane said.
