LOCATION OF THE STUDY AREA

The banana plantation in Mussaka is located at the foot of mount Cameroon and is bounded to the
North by Ekona- Mbenge, to the North West by Mamu and Lissoka villages and to the West by Muea.
The CDC banana plantation in Mussaka village is located on latitude 4 10 57 North and longitude 9 19
43 East. The elevation of the plantation farm is 476m above sea level. The annual temperature of the
area is relatively moderate and receive an annual rainfall of 2oomm per year.

The banana plantion is located on a plain dissected by many rivers and streams that runs down the
plantation such as river Mamu and the Mungo river that are tapped for the irrigation of the banana
plants. The soils found in the plantation is the rich volcanic soils which is very fertile for the cultivation
of the crops.
