A - HOW SOON CAN I GET ACCESS TO CHOCOBO RANCH? - G0501
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

The soonest you can get your chocobo ranch is in CH2 (it is located in
eastern
part of Calm lands inside former Monster Arena), but you must have had a
certain events with Clasko in either CH1 or 2. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THAT
EVENTS,
THEN YOU CAN'T GAIN ACCESS TO CHOCOBO RANCH EVER. New Game Plus only.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
B - WHAT MAKES CLASKO SO IMPORTANT? - G0502
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Quite simple. Once the ranch is open, he'll be the keeper of the ranch
for
you. Your job will be to catch chocobos, and he'll take care of them
for you.
Of course, there's more to it than just catching chocobos, but that is
explained in later sections of the guide.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
C - HOW DO I GET CLASKO TO CALM LANDS THEN? - G0503
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Even though the ranch has limited availability, you have plenty of time
to
meet the requirements for getting Clasko to Calm lands. There are
several ways
of how to do it...

WAY 1

- meet Clasko in CH1 during 'Foggy Fiend Frenzy!' sidequest mission in

Mushroom
- MAKE SURE TO TALK TO HIM after he's being told to show you the way!
- after completing this mission, return to SSP found at the entrance to
'Mushroom rock' screen - he'll be located on the right
- talk to him and say [The more, the merrier!]
- then participate in 'Cuckoo for Chocobos!' mission on Mi'ihen in CH2,
where
Clasko will help you
- after wasting the boss enter 'M - agency, f' screen and invite both
Clasko
and Calli onboard (Calli will come onboard only if you were able to
get a
chocobo for her)
- you don't HAVE to invite him onboard, as he will still appear in Calm
lands
in CH3 then, but better be safe than sorry
- finally go to Calm lands, enter the 'Facility ruins' and complete
'Clean
Sweep' mission; chocobo ranch is now open and you get alchemist DSP

WAY 2

- if you did not participate in 'Foggy Fiend Frenzy!' mission or didn't

invite Clasko on Celsius, then find him in CH2 on 'Mushroom rock'
screen
just before you enter 'M - ravine path'
- once you talk to him, he'll mention something about how he must find
his
place in the world
- he'll run off to unknown location
- if you haven't attempted 'Cuckoo for Chocobos!' mission yet, he will
appear
for help when Yuna is supposed to kick Chocobo Eater's ass
- if you make it to Chocobo Eater under time limit and after wasting
the boss,
enter 'M - agency, f' screen and invite both Clasko and Calli onboard
(Calli will come onboard only if you were able to get a chocobo for
her)
- you don't HAVE to invite him onboard, as he will still appear in Calm
lands
in CH3 then, but better be safe than sorry
- you also don't HAVE to make it to point of impact under time limit,
as he
will still appear in Calm lands in CH3 then, but better be safe than
sorry
- if you have already attempted 'Cuckoo for Chocobos!' mission, then
you'll
find him in Calm lands in CH3 - complete 'Clean Sweep' mission and
ranch is
open, you also get alchemist DSP

WAY 3

- if you invite Clasko onboard in CH1 or 2, but fail to stop by Calm

lands in
CH2, he'll jump ship at start of CH3 (you'll get a message about him
doing
so) and he'll appear there automatically in CH3 - complete 'Clean
Sweep'
mission, ranch is open, you also get alchemist DSP

EXTRA TIP

- If you've met the requirements for getting Clasko to Calm lands, then
chocobo ranch can wait even until CH5.

WHAT YOU MUSTN'T DO!!!

- if you do not talk to Clasko in CH1 or CH2, ranch isn't open for
business
and Clasko's whereabouts are unknown for remainder of the game

D - TIPS FOR CLEAN SWEEP MISSION? - G0504
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

- Not all fiends are real. Some are only an illusion. Touching an
illusionary
fiend will cause it to vanish.
- Only one real fiend appears at a time. Any other fiends you see are
illusions.
- The illusionary fiends face the direction of the real fiend. Of
course,
with some fiends it's difficult to tell which way they're facing at
all.

If you mess up three times in locating the real fiend, you'll see red
arrows
appear above fiends indicating direction they're looking at. With help
of
these arrows it shouldn't be a problem now to get rid of five real
fiends.

1st bout VS Skink

2nd bout VS Queen Coeurl & Armet
3rd bout VS Skink & Armet
4th bout VS 3x Armet
5th bout VS Queen Coeurl & Skink

Scene is triggered. Yo, Clasko, wassup? Kill 3x Blue Elemental and

ranch is
yours to command with wimpy little Clasko being in charge.

E - WHY IS CHOCOBO RANCH IMPORTANT TO GET BEFORE END OF CH3? - G0505
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

If this is your first game and if you're going for 100% completion in
one go,
then you must get access to the ranch before CH3 ends. You must also
capture
at least one chocobo before CH3 ends. If you fail to meet this
requirements,
you cannot attain 100% in one game.

A - I HAVE THE RANCH, BUT WHERE ARE CHOCOBOS? - G0601
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

I'm certain you've already encountered wild chocobos in random battles

over
Spira, but they would always run away... now that you have access to the
ranch, talk to Clasko and he'll award you with bunch of Gysahl Greens
and
Pahsana Greens. Greens type items are the most important in chocobo
kwest.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
B - CAN YOU GIVE ME DETAILS ON ALL GREENS ITEMS? - G0602
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

There's four types of Greens you can obtain, but not all of them are
available
straight away. See the simple chart below.

GREENS | AVAILABLE WHEN? | USED FOR?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Gysahl Greens | CH2, 3 and 5 | to catch chocobos in battles
Pahsana Greens | CH2, 3 and 5 | to restore chocs' Heart, to level
them up
Mimett Greens | CH3 and 5 | to level up chocobos
Sylkis Greens | CH5 only | to level up chocobos

You can also use all four Greens in battles to restore some HP to one
target,
but... why would you do that in the first place? If you do intend to use
Greens in battles, you'll get much better results including them in
Mixes.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
C - HELP! HOW CAN I CATCH A CHOCOBO? - G0603
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Well, first thing to do is to properly equip your tamer girl. I suggest

equipping Highroad Winds GG you've obtained, for it grants First Strike
ability. Then change your girl into alchemist and have her learn Items
Lv2.
Now you're set.

Second thing to know is where exactly can you encounter chocobos.

FOUND IN - Besaid, Kilika, Djose, Moonflow, Thunder plains, any
area of
Macalania except the lake, Bikanel, Calm lands
NEVER FOUND IN - Luca, Mi'ihen Highroad, Mushroom Rock, Guadosalam,
area in
front of Macalania's agency, Bevelle, Gagazet,
Zanarkand

Now that you have the means and destination, schlepp yourself to one of
areas
where chocobos appear. Keep fighting until you encounter a chocobo, who
will
appear either alone or with few fiends. If chocobo appears alone, have
your
alchemist use Gysahl Greens on it immediately. Congratulations, you've
caught
your first chocobo.=)

Things aren't so simple if you find chocobo along with other fiends,
tho'. To
ensure that chocobo won't escape, have your alchemist whip out Gysahl
Greens
on chocobo to keep it occupied. Meanwhile have remaining girls dispatch
fiends
in whatever way you see fit. Make sure you don't attack chocobo
accidentally,
as it will run away if you damage it. Once all fiends are killed, you
must
feed it ANOTHER Gysahl Greens and thus first chocobo is captured.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
D - EM... CHOCOBO JUST KILLED... ME? - G0604
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Well, that's a rather unfortunate side-effect of chocobo capturing.

Rather
often chocobo you fight in battle with other fiends or alone will try to
'help' the fiends or itself. It can use five different skills: Choco
Kick,
Choco Cure, Choco Shell and Choco Protect. What you should fear the
most is
Choco Meteo. Yeah, yellow bird-brain can cast 'ultimate magic'. I
wonder where
they got time to learn it from Sephy.

Anyway, to avoid any unfortunate game overs, I suggest YOU ALWAYS SAVE
YOUR
GAME BEFORE YOU SET YOURSELF OUT IN CHOCOBO CATCHING BUSINESS.

F - HOW MANY CHOCOBOS CAN I HAVE? - G0606
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

You can have a maximum of 14 chocobos - they will consist of 4 Choco

Runners
(CRU in further reference) and 10 Choco Reserves (CRE in further
reference).
Then there's an amazing chocobo, which requires special approach to be
obtained (I'll tell you how to do it in a separate section). If, once
you have
14 chocobos, you capture any additional chocobos, they will not be
added to
ranch's roster - instead Clasko will set them free.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
G - CHOCO-RUNNERS? CHOCO-RESERVES? AMAZING CHOCOBO? - G0607
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

First chocobo you'll capture automatically fills place of CRU1. Second

chocobo
fills the place of CRU2 and so on until CRU4. When you catch fifth
chocobo,
it's assigned to the role of CRE1 and so on until CRE10.
You cannot catch amazing chocobo, you must find it. As I said, I'll
discuss it
in separate section.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
H - WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF RUNNERS AND RESERVES? - G0608
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Main purpose for your CRU is to dispatch them to various locations

around
Spira in order to have them search for items. Before sending them away,
you
must consider chocobo's level, nature, Heart and suitability for the
area
you've sent chocobo to.

Purpose of CRE is just that - there's always a probability that one of

your
CRU will run away. If that happens, one of CRE will take that CRU's
place
instead. You can avoid having runaway chocobos by simply saving before
checking in with Clasko - if any did indeed run away, just reload your
save
until all chocobos have reported back in safe and sound.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
H - AREAS I CAN DISPATCH CHOCOBOS TO ARE...? - G0609
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

In total there's 12 areas around Spira where chocobos can be dispatched:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Besaid Island | Kilika Island | Mi'ihen Highroad
Mushroom Rock | Djose Highroad | Moonflow
Thunder Plains | Macalania | Bikanel Island
Calm Lands | Mt. Gagazet | Zanarkand Ruins
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

More details will be given in section 7.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
J - CHOCOBO'S LEVEL? - G0610
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Yes, chocobo's have levels. Initially, all chocobos you catch start at
lv1.
Highest level they can attain is lv5. But beware, not all chocobos can
reach
lv5. Some of them can't even be raised past lv1. To check out what is
the max
level a specific chocobo can reach, examine it while it's parked in its
stable.

A box will pop up telling you which chocobo you're examining (CRU or
CRE),
current lv, its nature, current Heart and max lv it can reach (amount
of info
available depends on which CH you're in; only if you're in CH5, will
you be
able to see max lv chocobo can reach). For example, if last entry says
1, lv1
is the highest this chocobo can go - it is practically useless and you
can
safely release it. But if that entry reads 5, then chocobo can be
leveled up
to lv5, which is the maximum level. You should keep such chocobos.
Chocobo's
level affects items it can find when searching Spira.

In the event that you're in CH2 or 3, then you won't be able to find out
chocobo's max lv that way. Instead save your game and talk to Clasko,
then
select Raise Chocobos command. Feed them correct greens and see how far
you
can go. Then note down chocobos you want to keep, reload your game and
release
the ones you have no need for.

Of the eight areas you can catch chocobos in, none is better than the
other
for capturing potential lv5 chocobos. It all comes down to how lucky
you are.

You raise chocobo's level by feeding it various Greens. I'll discuss

this in
section 7.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
K - CHOCOBO'S NATURE AND SUITABILITY? - G0611
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Chocobo's nature can be of three types: bold, timid, or normal. Use the
chart
below to help you determine where to go to capture chocobos of desired
nature
for your needs.

AREA | BOLD % | TIMID % |

NORMAL %
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Kilika, Thunder plains, Bikanel | 80% | 10% |
10%
Djose, Calm lands | 10% | 10% |
80%
Besaid, Moonflow, Macalania | 10% | 80% |
10%
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

So, for example, if you go to say Djose and capture a chocobo there,
you have
80% chances that chocobo will be of Normal Nature. If you want Bold
chocobo,
pay a visit to Thunder plains for best chances. Real simple, really.

Nature of chocobo along with chocobo's suitability for target area

affects how
it will perform when doing the search in target area and also affects
chocobo's probability of running away. When you send a chocobo to a
specific
area, chocobo can be:
- unsuited for target area
- average for target area
- well-suited for target area

Use the chart below to determine best course of action for your
feathered
friends.

AREA | BOLD CHOC | TIMID CHOC | NORMAL CHOC

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Besaid Island | unsuited | average | well-suited
Kilika Island | average | well-suited | unsuited
Mi'ihen Highroad | average | average | average
Mushroom Rock | average | average | average
Djose Highroad | well-suited | unsuited | average
Moonflow | unsuited | average | well-suited
Thunder Plains | average | well-suited | unsuited
Macalania | unsuited | average | well-suited
Bikanel Island | average | well-suited | unsuited
Calm Lands | well-suited | unsuited | average
Mt. Gagazet | average | average | average
Zanarkand Ruins | average | average | average
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

More on suitability and Heart consumption connection is discussed in

below
subsection.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
L - CHOCOBO'S HEART? - G0612
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Initially, all chocobos start with Heart of 100. As you send them to
areas,
their Heart will drop when they return. Amount of Heart lost is
affected by
chocobo's Nature and suitability of the area you've sent that chocobo
to.
Lower Heart stat indicates higher probability for chocobo to run away
or to
return with crap items - it can even happen it won't find anything.

By feeding it Pahsana Greens you can restore chocobo's Heart (more in

section
7) to reduce its chances of trying to run away. Also, more chocobos you
have
at the ranch, lesser the chances for escaping.

In short:
- if you send chocobo to area it is unsuited for, it'll lose 60 Heart
- if you send chocobo to area it is average for, it'll lose 30 Heart
- if you send chocobo to area it is well-suited for, it'll lose 15 Heart

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
M - WHAT TO DO TO PREVENT CHOCOBOS FROM RUNNING AWAY? - G0613
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

There's a couple of options at your disposal.

- capture 14 chocobos - more chocobos you have, lesser the chances for
CRU to
run away
- send CRU to areas they're well-suited for - doing so greatly decreases
their chances for running away
- don't send them away with low Heart - lower the Heart, greater the
chances
for escaping
- if you have amazing chocobo, send it on Chocobo Support duty - this
decreases chances for CRU to run away

There. With this I have covered all chocobo ranch basics. Now it's time
to
concentrate on options Clasko presents when you talk to him.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
N - WHAT DETERMINES WHEN DO CHOCOBOS RETURN? - G0614
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

The amount of battles your girls have been in. Formula is real simple:
from
the time you send out a chocobo, you must fight 7 random battles before
that
chocobo returns (assuming it won't run away once you talk to Clasko).

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
O - WHAT DETERMINES HOW MANY GREENS I WILL GET? - G0615
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Two factors: amount of battles you've been in since chocobo ranch has
opened
and CH you're currently in. Chart!

CHAPTER | GYSAHL | NUTRITIVE (PAHSANA, MIMETT & SYLKIS)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
2 | 5 for each 12 battles | 10 for each 6 battles
3 | 5 for each 10 battles | 10 for each 6 battles
4 | 5 for each 6 battles | 10 for each 5 battles

A - OUTLINE OF CLASKO'S COMMAND WINDOW? - G0701
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

When you talk to Clasko (if there's a chocobo doll there, just examine
it and
pick [Hey, Clasko!]) in spot designated in the map found in section 6,
you'll
be offered 10 choices:

THE CHOCOBO RANCH

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Raise Chocobos | Dispatch Chocobos
Feed Chocobos | Change Roster
Choco-Browser | Release Chocobos
Nutritive Greens | Junk Food Greens
Exit | Help
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

All of them are explained more in-depth in below subsections (except

Exit, of
course. Also, this guide assumes you've already captured 14 chocobos for
certain subsections - please, keep that in mind.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
B - RAISE CHOCOBOS COMMAND? - G0702
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

This command is used to raise chocobos' levels from initial lv1 to

potential
lv5. For more information on levels please check section 6. For this
subsection let's say we've captured 9 chocobos.

Now, let me tell you first what you need for leveling the chocobos.
- to level chocobo from lv1 to lv2, you require 10x Pahsana Greens
- to level chocobo from lv2 to lv3, you require 10x Mimett Greens
- to level chocobo from lv3 to lv4, you require 30x Mimett Greens
- to level chocobo from lv4 to lv5, you require 40x Sylkis Greens

Please check subsection E of section 7 for more info on how to get

specific
greens.

When I pop the cap on this command, following window will appear:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
WINDOW A
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

Choco-Runner 2 4 20 20
Choco-Runner 3 2 0 10
Choco-Runner 4 1 0 0

Back
Next Page
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

So, how do you read this window? Real simple, don't you worry. As you
can see,
I have four CRU.
- CRU1 has already attained max level, so naturally I can't level it up
anymore.
- CRU2 is at lv4. I've already fed it 20x Sylkis Greens, but I need to
feed
it 20 more before it reaches lv5.
- CRU3 is at lv2. I haven't fed it any Mimett Greens yet, so I need to
feed
it with 10 of them before it reaches lv3.
- CRU4 is at lv1. As you can see from first and second column, I can't
raise
it past lv1 - therefore it is useless and should be released.

Once you pop the cap at Next Page command (assuming you have more than
four
chocobos), this window appears:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
WINDOW B
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

Choco-Reserve 5 4 0 40

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Want an explanation for this window, too? I have five CRE.

- CRE1 is at lv1 and cannot be leveled up. I will release it.
- CRE2 is at lv1 and can be leveled to lv2 by feeding it 10x Pahsana
Greens.
- CRE3 is at lv1 and can be leveled to lv2 by feeding it 10x Pahsana
Greens.
- CRE4 is at lv1 and cannot be leveled up. I will release it.
- CRE5 is at lv4 and can be leveled to lv5 by feeding it 40x Sylkis
Greens.
It will also provide an excellent replacement for CRU4.

Are you following me thus far? Good, let's continue. I put the yellow
cursor
on CRU3 and press X...

I'm leveling up CRE3, who's currently lv2. I haven't fed it any greens
yet,
therefore 'Greens Fed' entry is showing 0. I need to feed 10x Mimett

before it reaches lv3 - amount of Mimett Greens needed is showed in
'Next

Use the cursor, which is pointing over second digit in 'Serving Size'
entry,
to determine amount of Mimett Greens you wish to feed the chocobo with.
There's no use in overdoing it, as extra greens used will be wasted, so
I'll
just feed it with 10x Mimett Greens. Use 'Mimett Greens left' entry to
determine whether or not you have enough of specific greens available.
In my
case I have 600 of them. Once I enter desired number of greens, which
will be
10, I press X...

C - FEED CHOCOBOS COMMAND? - G0703
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

This command is used to feed chocobos with Pahsana Greens in order to

restore
their Heart, which drops each time they return from item hunting. For
this one
let's assume I have 7 chocobos. If I pick this command, I get this
window
first...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

Note: Choco-Reserve window looks exactly the same, only difference is

that
there can up to ten entries for each of CRE you have.

When I look at this window, I see that CRU1 and CRU3 have Heart of 100,
therefore feeding them is useless, as I will not gain anything. On the
other
hand, CRU2 is in quite good shape, while CRU4 requires immediate
attention.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

(1 green restores 10 Heart)
Choco-Runner 4
Heart 0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

Okay, this is where I decide how many greens I wish to feed it with.
Since its
Heart is 0, I can choose either between '10 greens' or 'Enough to fully
restore its Heart.', doesn't matter.

Pay attention to how many Pahsana Greens you have left, as seen in
handy entry
(it counts Pahsana Greens in Yuna's inventory and Clasko's stash). If
you
don't have enough of them or are out, you won't be able to recover some
or any
of chocobo's Heart.

Note: If chocobo's Heart is already full any you select 'Enough to fully
restore its Heart.' option, you'll be given a warning that there's no
use in
raising its Heart, as its already full.

Right, so I'll choose '10 greens' entry to get this...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
WINDOW D

its Heart to 100.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
E - NUTRITIVE GREENS COMMAND? - G0705
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Clasko restocks greens for you on regular basis (depending on which CH

you're
in and amount of battles you've fought). If your inventory is full (you
can
hold max 99 of any greens type item), Clasko will hold the surplus
greens
until you need them.

You can choose the ratio of nutritive greens you want Clasko to give
you. For
example, if there were 10 nutritive greens available, you could choose:
- 50% Pahsana Greens (5 greens)
- 30% Mimett Greens (3 greens)
- 20% Sylkis Greens (2 greens)

I'll provide an example right now. First we need a scenario.

Let's assume my Yuna has 99x Gysahl Greens, 50x Pahsana Greens, 50x
Mimett
Greens and 50x Sylkis Greens in her inventory. Yuna is in CH5 and has
fought
15 battles - this prompts Clasko to have 30 nutritive greens available
(chart
on how is this calculated is in section 6; also, nutritive greens don't
include Gysahl Greens).

Now, I'll pick the command and have this...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
WINDOW A
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Would you like to change the
nutritive greens ratio?
-> No, this is fine.
Yes, please.

Pahsana Greens: 20%

Mimett Greens: 30%
Sylkis Greens: 50%
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
If I'm satisfied with the ratio given, I'll get this window next...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
WINDOW B
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Nutritive Greens
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------
Pahsana Mimett
Sylkis
Fresh greens 6 9 15
Clasko's stash 300 300 300
Yuna's inventory 50 50 50
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - -
Total available 356 359 365

Added to inventory* 49 49 49
Left with Clasko 257 260 266

* Yuna can carry up to 99 of each

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
------

Let me do some explaining.

- Fresh greens: as I said, Clasko had 30 greens for me. Because of
percentage
I've chosen I got 6x Pahsana, 9x Mimett and 15x Sylkis, as you can
see from
relevant numbers
- Clasko's stash: Clasko held thought up 300 of each greens for me and
this
line tells you how many extra greens has he tucked away for your later
needs in case you didn't need them before
- Yuna's inventory: displays the amount of each greens Yuna currently
has
- Total available: amount of fresh greens, Clasko's stash and Yuna's
inventory is tallied together and displayed here
- Added to inventory: Now, since Yuna had 50 of each greens, and Clasko
held
300 extra of each greens, my inventory will be automatically filled
to hold
99 of each greens - in my case I got 49 units of each greens
- Left with Clasko: amount of extra greens still available for Yuna -
number
that appears here is calculated: 'Total available' minus 'amount of
greens
in Yuna's inventory' = 'Left with Clasko'; in Pahsana case it would
be 356
minus 99 equals 257

I know this sounds confusing and all, but I tried my best to explain it.

If you want to receive 100% of specific greens Clasko has prepared

after you
come back from battling, then you should change the ratio of nutritive
greens
you receive by selecting [Yes, please.] in window A that appears. First
you'll
be given an option to select a ratio for Pahsana Greens, and then for
Mimett
Greens (unless you choose 100% ratio for Pahsana). A confirmation
window will
pop up asking to confirm your ratio selection.

This concludes Nutritive Greens command.

A - WHAT AND WHERE IS AMAZING CHOCOBO? - G0801
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Amazing chocobo is a special chocobo. Surely you've noticed an empty

spot in
upper area of the ranch? It's the spot where amazing chocobo will be
once you
find it. Amazing bird doesn't have level, Nature or Heart, and it will
never
run away.

It is located in chocobo ranch itself. Well, first you must uncover the
entrance to optional dungeon (called Ruin Depths), navigate this
dungeon, kill
the boss, raise a few walls and amazing chocobo is yours.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
B - HOW DO I GAIN ACCESS TO RUIN DEPTHS? - G0802
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Ruin Depths dungeon can only be unlocked and accessed in CH5.

Well, the process is quite long and can be completed by following these
steps.
Please note that process works with other chocobos as well, but this is
how I
got access to the dungeon, so I know my way works.

I keep getting mails that you don't need bold chocobos, the other areas
work
just as well and so on. Know what? I'm really not in the mood to check
out all
possible ways - there's like hundreds of possibilities. Would you be
willing
to test them all out? If you cannot be bothered to try my process
listed here,
you're welcome to try you own ways.

I state once again: Process described below GUARANTEES you'll get Ruin
Depths
dungeon. Make even one deviation from the process and you'll screw
yourself in
the long run.

STEP 01: You'll need four lv1 bold chocobos.

STEP 02: The areas where they often appear are Kilika, Bikanel or
Thunder p.
STEP 03: Go to any of this areas and begin capturing chocobos until you
have
14 of them.
STEP 04: Return to the ranch and examine all chocobos you've captured by
'talking' to them in the stables. Release all chocobos whose
max lv
can be 4 or lower. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP FOUR BOLD CHOCOBOS WHO
CAN BE
RAISED TO LV5! If you don't have enough of such chocobos,
release the
unneeded ones, then return to areas I mentioned and resume
capturing.
STEP 05: You have four bold chocobos that can be raised to lv5? Good!
Small tip: It also helps to retain extra chocobos (whatever
their max
lv or nature is), as the more chocobos you have as CRE, less
likely
your CRU are to run away.
STEP 06: DO NOT RAISE YOUR FOUR SELECTED BOLD CHOCOBOS YET! Instead
assign
them to be your CRU.
STEP 07: Dispatch all four of them to Calm lands.
STEP 08: ONLY DISPATCHING THEM TO CALM LANDS WILL WORK!
STEP 09: Go fight 7 random battles, then return to the ranch and SAVE
before
talking to Clasko.
STEP 10: Talk to Clasko and make sure that all four lv1 bold chocobos
made it
back. If any ran away, reload.
STEP 11: Now raise all four lv1 bold chocobos into lv2 bold chocobos.
Don't
forget to restore their Heart!
STEP 12: Dispatch all four of them to Calm lands. ONLY CALM LANDS!
STEP 13: Go fight 7 random battles, then return to the ranch and SAVE
before
talking to Clasko.
STEP 14: Talk to Clasko and make sure that all four lv2 bold chocobos

Sorry, I'm out. There is a nice map of the area available for viewing at

D - HOW DO I FIND AMAZING CHOCOBO DOWN THERE? I'M LOST! - G0804
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

Did you kill Anything Eater yet? It is located behind middle wall,
which must
be raised by approaching it from E (as viewed by the map I provided URL
to in
above subsection). After you defeat Eater, press on and you will cause
another
wall to rise - this will lead you to the corridor which is seemingly a
dead
end...? What the heck?

Again, use the map I provided the link for. You must rise all five walls
denoted in the map. Remaining four walls can only be opened by
approaching
them from E (trying to open them from W will NOT work). Only then will
you be
able to open up the passage to amazing chocobo which lies in ambush on
the
spot marked with X in the map.

'Talk' to it and you'll be given three options:

- Chocobo Support (Help)

- Exploring Spira (Help)
- Cancel (Help)

If you select 'Chocobo Support', the amazing chocobo will keep chocobos
you
dispatch from running away, but it doesn't always work (go figure).
Amazing
chocobo can't look after chocobos you already dispatched. Also, it takes
longer than usual for amazing bird-brain to return (16 random battles).

If you select 'Exploring Spira', you can send it out to travel in

search of
treasure, but you may not see it again for a while (go figure again - 16
random battles). Also, before sending it out on a new adventure, be
sure to
claim the treasure it brings back. Or else it will be lost forever.

Believe it or not, exploring Spira and supporting other chocobos is

tiring
work. The amazing chocobo hides its fatigue well, but it still needs to
get
rest by going on 'Standby'.

An amazing thing can happen with your amazing chocobo... If you send it
on a
search and if by a small chance it finds nothing... go and open the
chest in
front of the bird to find this message: 'The Amazing Chocobo brought
back...
absolutely nothing. The Amazing Chocobo did not find any treasure.'
This was contributed by George B.

This concludes amazing chocobo tutorial.

09.) TREASURE HUNTING - G0900
=======================================================================
======
=======================================================================
======

This will be more or less a big list of stuff chocobos can bring back
from any
of twelve areas. Items they bring are affected by:
- amount of Heart CRU had when dispatched
- chocobo's level: higher the level, better items it can find
- number of CRE you keep back at the ranch
- how suitable CRU is for target area
-> if CRU is well-suited for target area, treasure amount received
will be
more than average
-> if CRU is averagely suited for target area, treasure amount
received
will be average
-> if CRU is unsuited for target area, treasure amount received will
be
less than average

And now, the chart.

=======================================================================
======
Extra dungeon? --------------------------------------------------------
G1001
Extra digging spot in Bikanel? ----------------------------------------
G1002
Extra Garment Grids? --------------------------------------------------
G1003
=======================================================================

Note: All of this can only be done in CH5!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

A - EXTRA DUNGEON? - G1001
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

There is a hidden dungeon you can find on Mi'ihen road. Unfortunately

you
cannot discover it if you don't have chocobo ranch. Finding Mi'ihen
hidden
dungeon is really simple. All you have to do is dispatch lv4 or lv5
chocobo/s
to Mi'ihen, go fight 8 random battles until it returns and voila.
Hopefully
Clasko will tell you about new dungeon being discovered on Mi'ihen - if
he
doesn't, ol' trick with reload will work. Entrance to the dungeon
appears like
a green fog on screen labeled as 'Highroad - oldroad, south'. Entrance
is near
the save point, impossible to miss it.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-
B - EXTRA DIGGING SPOT IN BIKANEL? - G1002
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
=-=-=-

If you've paid a visit to Bikanel, you've prolly seen there's another

spot you
can dig at, called Central Expanse. But how to gain access? Send ANY
level
chocobo (preferably one you don't need) to Bikanel. It will run away,
but in
exchange you can now dig in Central Expanse.

Contributor Lori N. says:

I sent a level 5 bold chocobo to the Bikanel desert with my Amazing

Chocobo in
CH5. This was the first time I searched Bikanel. My little chocie
didn't run
away and I could then dig in the Central Expanse! So obviously there is
a down
side to this - I couldn't dig in Central until CH5. But the plus side
is I
didn't lose my chocobo. I'm assuming it didn't run away because of
Amazing's
"choco support."

It's kind of a double-edged sword, but not really. Most people don't
want to
do a whole lot of digging before CH5 anyway - we don't want the
Experiment to
get to level 5 too quickly do we? I hope you like this other option.

C - EXTRA GARMENT GRIDS? - G1003
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Following GG can only be obtained if you have access to chocobo ranch:

- HIGHROAD WINDS - complete 'Clean Sweep' mission just before claiming

the
ranch to be open for business and this GG is yours
- FONT OF POWER - complete Fiend Colony dungeon (hidden on Mi'ihen) by
defeating King VERMIN! boss and this GG is yours
- HIGHER POWER - find amazing chocobo in Ruin depths dungeon (hidden
inside chocobo ranch) and this GG is yours
- HORN OF PLENTY - once you have access to Central Expanse in Bikanel,
dig
at white X spots; sooner or later you'll score
Desert Key
key item; use it to unlock the chest in Al Bhed
Camp and
this GG is yours
- MOUNTED ASSAULT - I got Mounted Assault by sending out bold chocobos
with
Heart stats between 55 and 95. I sent them to Calm
Lands.
Once they have returned, I got Mounted Assault. I
don't
know if there's anything involved that increases
the odds
of getting it, but this is how I got this GG.
- STRENGTH OF ONE - I got it by sending bold chocobos with Heart of 30
to
Kilika island. Once they returned, their Heart was
0, but
I got this GG from second chocobo that returned.

MA GG and SOO GG can also be won by sending chocobos with the Heart
counter
provided above to any other areas. Don't keep trying Calm lands and
Kilika
exclusively.
