opposite – someone whom people hate or despise, to claim that a
product or an idea is good. Or the opposite bad.

8. Scapegoat – This technique points to a person or a group who


bears the blame for others.

Example: “Senator X caused the national debt.”


9. Plain Folks – This technique is where a speaker convinces the
audience that an idea is good because this is the same idea of the
majority.

Example: “The Despicable Me” McDonalds commercial is a great


example of plain folk, which is a propaganda technique used when
putting a famous person or a character as a common man.

10. Stalling or evading/ignoring the question – This technique is


used when one wants to avoid answering a question or plays for more
time.

Example: "More research is needed...", "A fact-finding committee is


working on this issue..." "I am calling for an investigation on this
failure." When asked about a tax increase possibility a senator replies:
"I have always met the obligations I have to those I represent."
