About iCEM

International Center of Excellence in Mining Safety and Automation (iCEM),

Ahmedabad is an initiative of Government of Gujarat (GoG) and envisioned to focus
on Skill Development, Corporate Development, Demonstration of Technology and
Best Practices, Education and Training, Research & Development, Incubation &
Entrepreneurship in Mining sector through continued innovation and excellence to
facilitate industrial development in joint venture with industrial partners. The center
was envisioned by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Narendra Modi,
in the year 2013 during Vibrant Gujarat Summit – 2013. iCEM is being promoted by
GoG through Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) as Principal
Promoter; IIT Kharagpur and Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) as
National Academic Partners; University of Wollongong (UoW), Australia as
International Academic Partner and TAFE Illawara, Australia as an International
Vocational Education partner. It is a government body.

About The Program

Safety play a vital role in the mining industry as far as productivity are concerned. The
8th Conference on Safety in Mines held on 14th May, 1993 at New Delhi as well as in its
30th meeting of the Standing Committee on Safety on Coal Mines held in 13 th March,
2015 at New Delhi, has given due weightage about the safety in mines and
recommended the essential trainings for the mining executives. Considering the above
recommendations iCEM is organizing two days executive training & development
program on ‘Safety in Mines’ during November 29-30, 2019 at iCEM Campus, Village
- Devdholera, Dist. Ahmedabad. The training intended to improve the knowledge and
skill about the safety in mines to the mining executives.

 Behavioural based safety & understanding safety responsibility

 Roles & responsibility of operating managers towards safety
 Identifying hazards, risk assessment and its control
 Accident/incident /near miss incidents reporting, investigation
 Permit to work system, LOTO, confined space work, height work, scaffolding
safety
 HEMM maintenance works and road traffic rules
 Opencast mines safety aspects, handling of material
 Major legal compliance requirement vis-à-vis safety
 Electrical safety
 Materials handling, chemical storage, use and its handling
 Materials guarding
 Safety requirement in pressure vessels, tools and tackles, lifting machines
 Disaster and emergency preparedness, mock trials.

Training Fee Rs 6,500/- +18% GST per candidate inclusive of accommodation (twin
sharing), food (morning breakfast, lunch, tea, snacks & dinner), local
transport & study materials.
