⚫ Auto cad is semi parametric ,command based, low-

end ,non associative and best drafting software.
⚫ Semi Parametric –Parameters can be modified up to
certain limits .
⚫ Command Based :- All options can be used by helps
of command
⚫ Low-End :- No. of modules is less
⚫ Non Associative :- No inter link between work
benches
⚫ Drafting :- It is the complete representation of
drawing with proper dimension and geometric
AUTOCAD :-
⦿ AUTO-CAD is a Drawing Software package , Developed by
the company Autodesk in U.S.A.
⦿ It is of the most widely used software for creating drawing
easily and quickly.
⦿ Creation of geometric modeling along the engineering
analysis . Evaluate the design and produce drafting for
manufacturing with the help of computer.
AutoCAD software was firstly launched by Autodesk
company in Dec. 1982.
It comes in India in 1988.
The first version of AutoCAD was R1 after that
R2,R3,R4…………… and so on.
In 2000,Autodesk launched a version of AutoCAD 2000 after
that 2001,2002…… so on.
ADVANTAGE OF AUTOCAD :-
1.Easy communication &Drawing sharing
2.Easy modification
3.More accurate product.
4. Reduce the time & man power (around 50%)
5.Runing cost is low compare to others

DISADVANTAGE :-
1. Huge investment
2. Getting a skilled manpower difficult and want to
pay more money

Status bar-status bar is equal to functional keys.

Menu bar –it will gives the information about the uses
of software.

⚫ F1- AutoCAD online help
⚫ F2- AutoCAD command window
⚫ F3- Osnap on & off (object snapping)
⚫ F4- 3D Osnap on/off
⚫ F5- Isoplane top, right & left on/off
⚫ F6- Dynamic UCS on/off
⚫ F7- Grid on/off
⚫ F8- Ortho mode on/off
⚫ F9- Snap on/off
⚫ F10- Polar tracking on/off. To make angular
⚫ F11- O-tracking on/off (object tracking)
⚫ F12- Dynamic view of dimension in curser on/off
Using of mouse :-
⚫ Mb1 - select the object, object pick box
⚫ Mb2 - zoom in/out, for panning press middle button
and move the mouse

Selection process :-
⚫ Blue window - window by selection top to bottom &
left to right for selection we want to select the full
object .
⚫ Green window-window by selection bottom to top &
right to left . For selection just we
Want to select one point of the object
• Select right to left is better than the left to right.
SOME KEY USED IN AUTO CAD :-
CTRL+0 =CLEAR THE SCREEN
CTRL+9= HIDE/SHOW THE COMMAND WINDOW
ESC= RELEASE FROM COMMAND OR DIS SELECT THE
OBJECT .
CTRL+Z=UNDO
CTRL+Y=REDO
