“Christian’s Struggle to fight off Temptations”

The next stage after accepting Jesus and the Gospel is actually living our daily lives as Christians in this
world. It’s really hard to be a Christian because we are taught differently from what the world is
teaching us. Though we know the world is wrong, we still fall short because we are physically weak to
resist these kind of things. Worldly things are temptations that causes us to sin. Of course, a true
Christian should avoid these instances but the question from most of us is – how must we avoid seeking
worldly things? This is a struggle that we all face. But asking this question is also a sign that we are really
trying our best to be Holy. Our spirit is willing, but the body is weak.

In the verses of 2 Timothy 3:13-17, it explains that the worldly people are evil doers who will continue to
be deceived but for us people of God, however, we must continue to dwell in our faith. Then, in the last
two verses it goes on about the word of God. We must mediate on the scriptures day and night, it says.
So by this, we can discern that the Gospel is very essential for us not to be tempted. If we could expose
ourselves to the Gospel, then your willpower will be stronger because the message will be in the back of
our minds and in our hearts. If God really matters to you, then you would spend time on meditating on
the word.

All things we learn from the Bible and in the Church are stored in our minds. But this will not be effective
if we are just aware of it but not really putting those things into practice. When we obey and practice
God’s words, it means that we are truly dwelling in our faith. All of these especially obedience, takes a
lot of time. Train our obedience. Next is prayer. We pray to communicate with God and seek God’s will
for us. Prayer is also for seeking God’s help when we are weak. The good thing is we are not alone in this
battle that’s why God gives us the Church community to be able to build up the body of Christ. We help
each other in this struggle, along with the friends who influence us. We see each other growing
together. And if you really want to overcome these temptations, it is actually up to you. Let’s make it an
effort to stay away from those things and resist our urges. The best option is to just run away. That is a
good strategy. In the end, it’s really up to you if you want to overcome temptations.

Conclusion: To sum everything up, the things we should do to overcome temptation is to:
 Meditate on Scripture – obey and put it to practice
 Prayer- seek for God’s will and help
 Fellowship – find a place to grow the faith
 Run away from things hindering you
Remember that this battle is real. We strive to resist these things. And by everything else we
must remember that CHRISTIANITY IS NOT SELF-KNOWLEDGE, BUT A WAY OF LIFE!
