Automotive Engineering
Automotive engineering is a job that takes skills and knowledge. What is a automotive
engineering? Automotive engineering is the ability to repair engine components and making
the car run and drive. The main reason I want to work in engineering is because I love to work
on cars, I also love modifying cars it is my hobby. Working on cars is not the only reason I want
to work in automotive engineering but the fact that it has good pay. I can not only work on cars,
but I will also get paid to work on cars.
Automotive engineering Needs four years of college or university you will need a
bachelor's degree to be able to work in this job as a certified worker. This is the basic
requirement for entry level jobs in the industry. It takes two years to get your master's degree
in automotive engineering. This job is in serious demand right now not much people are
working in automotive engineering. Automotive engineering is projected to grow 5% by 2022.
People can first prepare to become an engineer in high school, this can be accomplished by
learning algebra, geometry and precalculus. The next step is to develop your communication
skills as you go through high school. Some schools have engineering classes d automotive
classes this will help you gain knowledge of how to think as an engineer.
Automotive engineering requires a lot of knowledge you must know components in an
engine, the types of engine and transmission parts, this is only half the stuff you must also learn
on how to think like an engineer there are steps to learning this process as such, The first step
will require identify the problem. Next will be Research the problem. Step three imagine and
develop possible solutions. Step four Find a promising solution, Next step five build a prototype,
Then prototype. Finally improve and design if needed. These steps are very important in the
engineering process it helps eliminate problems and solve the problem faster. This career also
requires good math skills. Not only will you need to know all that stuff, but you will also need
good communication skills with your boss and customers this is important because you do not
want to change the wrong part this can mess up a customer's car. The worker must know how
to speak listen and make solid eye contact as they speak.
Automotive engineering not only need technical skills, but it also needs safety skills. This
is important so you or the workers around will not get injured. Every shop should have a set of
safety rules to prevent injuries or biohazards. There are dress codes guidelines in a workshop
were the worker must wear safety goggles, pants closed toe shoes, hair must be tied back, and
you must have your shirt tucked in. This helps prevent a worker's shirt from being caught on a
machine and getting hurt. When the car lift is being operated only the operator must be in the
work zone the operator must ask if its clear before lowering or lifting. When working on a
vehicle not only is your safety important but the customers too. The work you do will be
inspected to make sure it meets the safety guidelines.
Automotive engineering is good paying job, the pay changes depending the level of
engineering including the level of education. Starting levels such as the ones working in garages
or shops tend to get paid 39,450 may not seem like much but as you get up the ranks you get
better pay. Pay also changes depending who you work for, you can work in a small shop or even
a company, companies require more education to work in. Master technicians get paid more
their pay is double then a starter they get paid up to 64,070. Although the pay is not the best I
love to work on cars, I believe workers should get paid more because being a automotive
mechanic is dangerous the workers work on hot engines with hot oil and risk getting burns.
Although pay is low it also varies in the state a person lives in, In Alaska workers get paid
(57,150) dollars a year. Meanwhile in Washington they get paid 48,290 a year in new jersey
they get paid 49,410 a year. Although there are not much automotive engineers because of the
pay this makes getting a job with a famous company such as ford, doge, Honda and Subaru
easier to get. Another way to get paid better but is a lot harder to do is vlog your work on
YouTube a lot of people do this and YouTube engineering pays them well.

The dangers of automotive engineering are lots of them. One of the most a dangerous
thing is working under a lift; the worker can be crushed bad if they do not know what they are
doing therefore the operator of the lift must see if the area is clear before lowering or lifting.
The other way Starters tend to get crushed is if the car is not properly secured on the lift this is
very dangerous because the car can fall as the worker is under the car. The car must first be
aligned right onto the lift. Then the car must be parked in the middle of the lift it must be tightly
secured before lifting to ensure the workers safety. Another danger is working on a hot engine
this can be dangerous if the worker is a starter and do not know much the worker can suffer
bad burns if he opens the coolant cap because the coolant will burst out and burn you, coolant
is not a joke hot coolant can be around 220 degrees this is enough for third degree burns.
Automotive engineering is not only about the engine there are more parts too such as
the transmission, the transmission is what lets a car change gears it also. If the transmission is
automatic the gear changes by itself and if it is manual you must control a rod that goes
through the transmission to change the gears. Thi9s is important because it shows the things
you are required to know to be a automotive engineer there are even more components such
as the suspension. The suspension keeps the car off the ground, and it keeps the car from
jumping a lot. Not only do you need to know about parts, but you also need to know when to
change fluids.
Sure people need a lot of knowledge to work in automotive engineering such as engine
transmission and safety but that will not stop me from working in the field of automotive
engineering. The main reason I want to do this because I love to work on cars I grew up around
modified cars my brother works in engineering and my dad is a self-made engineer they taught
me the basics and now I want to know more and work in the field of engineering.
