Title: Rehabilitation of Balangay Shrine Museum based on Tropical Principles and Concepts that

Contribute to Preventive Conservation of Artifacts

A. Problems
1.) what are the tropical design strategies that contribute to the preventive conservation of
Balangay boats in terms of:
a) Temperature
b) Relative Humidity
c) Light
d) Air Quality
2.) What are the space requirements needed to house artifacts and preserve the historical
value of the site?

B. Objectives
1.) To determine building materials that contributes less Temperature and Relative
Humidity fluctuations.
2.) To analyze tropical site conditions that affect light and air quality movement in the
indoor climate.
3.) To determine artifact display requirements as well as the standard circulation space
needed for visitors.
4.) To determine specific locations of the site with historical value and apply design
solutions for preservation
5.) To determine auxiliary spaces needed for the museum to fully function.

SIMULATION/ PROTOTYPE Trying to place real-world threats/scenarios into a contained setting, often
scaled down, for closer observation of the behavior of variables.

Evaluation and documentation of the exisiting structure's architectural features:

a. Body Mass

b. Fenestration

c. Surrougnding elements and vegetation
