I am writing about the open position of document controller located at Stantec’s Sudbury, Ontario office. I was first informed about this position by my friend Ms. Katie Burau, and she suggested I reach out to you regarding the open document controller position. Stantec has acquired several companies in the past few years, and with the mining industry on the rise, I believe my skill set would enhance the document control team in the Sudbury, Ontario office, as well as help Stantec distinguish itself from the other mining companies located in Sudbury, Ontario. Since the mining industry is currently in an upswing, I believe providing clients good, quality work will help cement Stantec as a standard in the Canadian Mining Industry. With the recent acquisitions of smaller companies by Stantec, there is a need for training and implementing the same standards across the company. I have been a document controller in the mining industry for seven years now, and have been a part of several standards roll-outs in my current company. My background in the mining industry, document controls, and initiating standards throughout my company gives me great experience to help Stantec achieve integration of the newly acquired companies. My company just rolled out new branding, which required a complete update of all the templates we use to keep our document consistent. I know my experience in document controls and helping to roll-out companywide initiatives will help Stantec to distinguish itself from its competitors. The job posting on the Stantec website calls explicitly out proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Aconex, and other electronic document management systems. Currently, I use Aconex and SharePoint daily and have implemented several procedures to ensure our work is consistent each time. On top of the electronic document management systems, I am well-versed in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. I have created templates in Word to maintain consistency throughout the project, and for new projects, we have been awarded. I believe my proficiency will be an asset to the Stantec Sudbury, Ontario office. With the mining industry on the rise, Stantec will need a strong document control team to help with the project workload. I want to speak to you about this position because I believe I will be able to help Stantec stand apart from its competitors. I look forward to hearing from you and can be reached at (480) 644-1419 or by email at jwheelw1@asu.edu. Thank you for your time in reviewing my letter and résumé. Sincerely, Jacy Wheelwright
