Lesson Plan

Tittle : Narrative text (traditional stories (Malin Kundang, Roro Jongrang, Bandung
Bondowoso), and abroad stories (Cinderella, Pinokio))

Time : 30 minutes

Level : VII of SMP

Media : A traditional text (story) such as Malin Kundang, Roro Jongrang, and Bandung
Bondowoso also text (story) from abroad such as Cinderella and Pinokio, pictures of animal,
princess, and prince, marker and board.

Class profile

This is an reading class which English is a compulsory subject especially in narrative text. The
range of the age of the students is 12 and 13 years old. The material or subject is taught only two
times a week which is Tuesday and Friday. The main language for instruction and communication
that used in the classroom is English. Most of the students in the class has been introduced a few
of traditional stories such as Malin Kundang, Roro Jongrang, Bandung Bondowoso whereas for
stories from abroad they don’t really know.

Rationale

The main purpose of teaching lesson is enabling students to improve their critical thinking also to
improve their knowledge about traditional story in Indonesia also stories from abroad then they
would be able to found the differentiate about the difference between traditional story and abroad
story. So the introduction of narrative text could help the students to explain the difference between
both of story and beside that their not only know a traditional story but also they know about
abroad stories

Aims

 Student can improve their intelligence or knowledge about story


 Can enhance the development of student thinking logic
 Can improve student skilled in language with the story

Setting the scene (5 minutes)

 Greet the students : Assalamualaikum and good morning


 Show the picture of Princess and Prince in the story then ask them to take note and guess
the picture is it from Indonesian or abroad
 Introduce the topic as well about the story and explain the meaning
 Ask them to guess the tittle of the story
 Ask them to find several things or important word in the story

Presentation (25 minutes)

Part 1 (3 minutes)

 Post the cue pictures of those chosen picture in front of them


 Explain the meaning

Part 2 (3 minutes)

 Show them the big picture about the contrast story between English and Indonesian
 Explain the meaning
 Drill the students to have correct answer

Part (4 minutes)

 Ask them to reminding the picture and some important words from the story
 Then ask them to write down in board who have correct answer

Part 4 (17 minutes)

 Demonstrate the difference of the traditional stories ad abroad though acting in front of
the class and ask students to explain it
 Pair the students and place some picture such as animal, Princess, and Prince and ask
member of each pair to tell their partner to choose the picture which one include in the
traditional stories and which one include in abroad stories
 When this activity is end, pair the students again and ask them to write down in the board
 Ask them to return in their chair to make one sentence about they opinion from each stories

Conclusion

Part 5 (5 minutes)

 Pair the students again and ask them to review what have they learned in the class
 Give they conclusion about the lesson and finally close the class with say
Assalamualaikum and thank you
