Our chosen family is the Aparen Family. We interviewed Mrs. Winita Aperen the mother

of the family, they are permanent resident of Purok Maligaya ll Upper Mambugan

Antipolo City. They are residing there for 11yrs. Mrs. Aparen said that they own the

house but the government owns the lot, so they somehow have rights to live there.

Wilmer, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Aperen was off to work when we arrived so Mrs.

Aperen is the only one who is available for the interview. Mr. Aperen was not home

because he’s in Manila that time. And all her other children are in school. Benjamin and

Joverose are both in High school and John Mark is in Elementary. They are nuclear

type of family. They are the only family who live in their house. They are also

considered as Matriarchal type of family because Mrs. Aperen is always dominant in

decision-making.

Compute for the Total Floor Area (TFA): Length X Width

Width 19 sq.m

Length
20 sq.m

Total Floor Area = Length X Width

Total Floor Area = 20 sq. m. X 19 sq.m.

Total Floor Area = 380 sq.m.

Compute for the total space requirements (TSA) using the following values:

Total Space Requirement per individual

Adult ≥18 years old = 3 sq.m

Child ≤17 years old = 1.5 sq.m

Infant = 0

(A) No. of adults X 3 sq.m = sq.m

(B) No. of child X 1.5 sq.m = sq.m

TSA (A+B) = sq.m

(A) 2 X 3 sq.m = 6 sq.m

(B) 4 X 1.5 sq.m = 6 sq.m
TSA (A+B) = 12 sq.m

Interpret:

TSA < TFA = adequate living space

TFA > TSA = inadequate living space/overcrowded

TSA < TFA

12 sq.m. < 380 sq. m = Adequate Living space

COMPUTE FOR THE VENTILATION PERCENTAGE (%)

Total Window Opening X (L X W) X 100

Ventilation % =

Ventilation % = 9.87% Poor Ventilation
