BRIEF ON UDCHALO

1. ​Background​. udChalo is a unit of UpCurve Business Services Pvt Ltd, a company


registered with Ministry of Corporate Affairs, GOI under ROC Pune. udChalo provides
concessional airline tickets to ​serving/retired Armed Forces, Paramilitary Personnel and
their Dependents​. The company has been founded by defence personnel and mostly
employs veterans, dependant and veer-naris.

2. ​USP​: ​Currently the facilities we provide are an aggregation of the discounted defence
and PMF fares of various airlines operational in the country and will be increasing the scope
of our services in the near future towards making life simpler for our forces. We are also in
process of integrating other surface transport systems to make travel seamless till the final
destination as also obtaining value proposition from various hotels for stay by members of
our forces. We strive continuously to obtain maximum possible discounts and value
additions.

(a) Details of Airline Partners​. During last year udChalo has brought most of the
domestic airlines onboard with lot of efforts and persuasion. We have been able to obtain
better concessions and increased number of seats under discount. Details are listed below:-

(i) Jet Airways - Upto 50% exclusive discount upto 10 seats per flt..

(ii) GoAir - Upto 30% exclusive discount upto 5-10 seats per flt.

(iii) AirAsia - 10% exclusive discount or Excess Baggage in some


Cases (till last seat available in flight).

(iv) Indigo - Upto 50% on base fare between 5-10 seats per flt.

(v) Spicejet - Upto 50% on base fare between 5-10 seats per flt.

(vi) All Airlines - Retail fares/Special fares

*All JCO/ORs can claim their rail entitlement/LTC travel against these tickets as per
clarification issued by DOPT.

(b).​ ​Charges :

(i) Convenience Fees​. udChalo charges Rs 200 as convenience fees per


customer. ​This is the lowest convenience fees in the industry​. No commission is
charged.

(ii) Cancellation & Rescheduling Fees​. Sudden cancellation of leave due to


service exigencies as a reality, and therefore, we have specifically worked towards
getting the following concessions :-

(aa) Only Rs 500 as cancellation fees for select Vistara flights negotiated.
(ab) One re-scheduling free for select Air Asia booking.
(ac) Advance talk with major airlines for lowering cancellation fees for tps.

(c). ​Booking Counters Pan India​. Our constant customer interaction made us aware of
the difficulty in online booking faced by troops due to poor network in remote localities,
unease in usage of digital platforms and hesitation in online financial transactions. To
ameliorate this situation, we decided to open dedicated counters to help our soldiers and
dependents in booking discounted air tickets in accessible vicinity. As our tribute, we made a
policy to employ only Veterans/ War widows/Dependents to operate these counters. Till date
we have opened 37 physical counters in Army and one at BSF location, not only helping
Armed Forces personnel in convenience of booking but also providing employment to these
many veterans/ veer naris/dependants:-

3. Other Initiatives by udChalo​:-

(a) Employment Opportunity​. udChalo also provides employment for


ex-servicemen, veer naris and dependents, at counters, as zonal managers and at the
head office. udChalo has provided employment to 96 veterans/ veer naris/
dependents in the last one year and is looking forward to provide more and more
opportunity to our soldiers and veer naris in the future.

(b) Customer Service Centre​. We have established a customer service center


in Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC), Pune to gainfully engage seven
quadriplegic members from PRC in resolving customer queries. The feedback from
PRC is very heartening.

(c) A similar setup is being planned for Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC),
Mohali as well.
