OTIS Compass HLI Elevator Integration

High-level integration between Security Expert and OTIS Compass Elevator Systems
provides the full advantage of a complete destination-based elevator system combined with
access control and intruder detection.

Users and access levels are configured within Security Expert and transferred to the OTIS
Compass system. When a user presents their access card at an OTIS Compass terminal, the
OTIS Compass system verifies their credentials using the information supplied by Security
Expert. Once access has been verified, the OTIS Compass system automatically calls an
elevator to transport the user to the selected floor.

OTIS Compass HLI Elevator Integration Schneider Electric Security Expert OTIS HLI Integration

Integration Overview
The following steps are required for OTIS Compass HLI integration with Security Expert:
• Configure the controller. The controller running the integration must have the following
settings:
IP address set to 192.168.50.250
Subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0
Gateway set to 192.168.50.254
• Add Floors and Floor Groups
• Configure the OTIS Compass Destination Entry Computer (DEC)
• Configure Users and Access Levels

Programming Steps
Configuring the Controller
1. Navigate to the Sites | Controllers menu. Select the controller connected to the OTIS
Compass server, then click the Configuration tab.
2. In the Elevator HLI window, set the Elevator HLI Type to 'OTIS'. This brings up the
Lowest Basement Floor field which defines the lowest physical underground floor
accessible by an elevator. For example, if there are five underground floors, the value
entered is '5'.
3. Click Save.

Programming the Floors and Floor Groups

Adding Floors

Each floor accessed by the OTIS Compass Elevator System must be added in Security
Expert, and a Floor Relay number assigned. The Floor Relay number tells the controller
where the physical floor is located, creating a map in Security Expert of accessible floors.

Floor relay numbers must be unique, programmed in numerical order (starting at 1), and start
at the lowest accessible floor. Rear elevator doors should be programmed with floor relays
starting from '65'.

As the OTIS Compass Elevator System services underground floors and Security Expert relay
numbering starts at '1', the lowest accessible floor must be assigned a Floor Relay of '1' (see
sample table below where the lowest floor, Basement 2, is assigned a Floor Relay of '1', and
the Ground Floor is assigned a Floor Relay of '3').

1. Navigate to the Programming | Floors menu and click Add to name the floor.
2. Assign a unique Floor Relay, starting with '1'.
3. Click Save.

Adding Floor Groups and Applying Schedules

Floor Groups

Floor Groups contain the floors that the OTIS Compass Destination Entry Computer (DEC) is
able to access.
1. To create a floor group for all floors used by the OTIS Compass Elevator system, navigate
to the Groups | Floor Groups menu, click Add and Name the floor group, (e.g. 'All OTIS
Floors').
2. Click Save.
3. In the Floors window, click Add to select the floors to be included in the floor group. Drag
and drop items into the main window or select one or more floors and click Ok.

Schedules

Schedules are used in conjunction with floor groups to define when certain floors are
accessible. If a floor is always accessible without credentials, set the schedule to 'Always'. If
the floor is only freely accessible during specified hours, create a schedule to define these
hours and assign it to the relevant floors within the floor group.
1. In the Schedule column, set the schedule for each floor to define when that floor can be
freely accessed:

If the floor should be freely accessible, set the schedule to 'Always'.

If the floor should only be accessed during specified hours, create and assign a
schedule to define these hours.
2. Click Save.

Important: Using the All Floors floor group or selecting the Include All Floors option is
not recommended if the floors within the floor group operate under different schedules.

Configuring the OTIS Compass Destination Entry Computer (DEC)

The Destination Entry Computer (DEC) is the OTIS computer controlling the display that
directs a user to the appropriate elevator car.

DECs are referenced within the Security Expert system via door programming. Each DEC on
each floor requires a record to be created in Security Expert.
1. Navigate to the Programming | Doors menu and in the General window, click Add and
enter a short Name that describes the type of device and where it is located, e.g. 'OTIS
DEC LB5'.
2. Click Save.
3. In the Elevator HLI window, enable the Door Used For Elevator HLI option. This
enables and disables the elevator HLI functionality for the door. When enabled, only
options relevant to the specific elevator configuration are displayed.
4. In the Operator Panel Type field, select DOP (Destination Operation Panel). For OTIS
Compass integrations, DOP must be selected, as only landing-based DECs are
supported.
5. Select the relevant controller, then set the following:

DOP ID: This information is provided by the OTIS Compass Elevator System and
specifies the unique ID of the OTIS Compass DEC. This needs to match the fourth
octet of the OTIS Compass DEC's IP address.
Floor Group: This is the Floor Group that allows specified floors to be unlocked on
schedule for the DEC.
Group Number: This information is provided by the OTIS Compass Elevator System
and must match the third octet of the DEC's IP address.
DEC Operation Mode: This defines the DEC Operation Mode (supplied by the OTIS
Compass Elevator System). The following modes are available:
 (1) Default Floor: The user presents their credentials to the card reader or enters
a PIN at a DEC device. The user may then manually enter a destination floor, if
required. If the user's credentials are valid, the security system sends a default
floor to the DEC. If a manually entered destination floor is allowed, the DEC
forwards the call request to the DES (Destination Entry Server). If floor access is
denied, the DEC provides textual and/or audible feedback to the user informing
them that the call request has been denied.
 (2) Access to Authorized Floor(s): The user presents their valid credentials to
the security system's card/PIN reader and selects a destination floor. The DEC
then receives a message from the security system either identifying the floors the
user has access to, or denying the request due to invalid access permissions.
 (3) User Entry of Destination Floor: Without the need for credentials, the user
selects their destination floor. If the destination floor is free access, the DEC
forwards the call request to the DES. If the floor selected is not free access, the
user is prompted to present their credentials.
 (4) Default Floor or User Entry of Destination Floor: The user presents their
credentials and, if valid, the default floor is sent to the DEC. Within a certain time
frame the user is able to override the default floor selection and choose another
destination floor.
6. Click Save.
7. Repeat the above steps for the remaining DECs (one for each floor).

The following table is an example of DEC programming:

Configuring Users and Access Levels

Access levels are required to link the floor group to a user.
Access levels may correspond to the user/floor group, or multiple access levels can be
created that use the same floor group but that have different permissions to other items (such
as doors and area groups) within the Security Expert system.

OTIS Compass Special User Functions

1. To set OTIS Compass HLI special user functions, navigate to the Users | Users menu
and select the Options tab.
2. In the OTIS Elevator HLI Options window, select from the following features:
User is a VIP: Enabling this option allows for the non-stop routing of VIP passengers
in specific cars to their destination floor.
Enable Vertigo: Elevator selection can be driven by a preferred physical
characteristic of certain elevators within the group, e.g. passengers with vertigo can
be assigned specific slower elevators.
Enable Split Group Operation: Allows a single elevator bank to be divided into
independently operating groups.
Enable Vertigo 2: Increases the range of elevators available as per Enable Vertigo
(above).
Enable Cart Service: This feature, initiated with a code or credential, minimizes
cases of an elevator car arriving without the physical capacity required for a
passenger and cart (e.g. in hotel/hospital service elevators).
Enable CIM Override: This feature allows the user to bypass the Split Group
Operation (above) and travel anywhere in the building (e.g. for cleaners/building
manager).
