The proposed UMT Student Residential College development is located near the coast of Batu Rakit,

Kuala Terengganu. The proposed site is positioned at the entire Eastern area, overlooking the South
China Sea. The entire building layout is developed based on climate-responsive concept which avoids
direct evening sunlight. Besides that, the coastal weather factors are also being taken into design
considerations. All of the building blocks are arranged accordingly to allow sea breeze to pass
through.

The overall size of the proposed site for this development proposal is 6.96 acres which is equivalent
to 2.82 hectares. The proposed development comprises of five important blocks, namely the female
students’ residential blocks, male students’ residential blocks, postgraduate students’ residential
blocks, residential blocks for the B40 and the Student Activity Centre. All blocks can be access from
the main entrance located in the southwest of the site.

The Postgraduate Block (Block K) building is located the closest to the main entrance gate on the left.
The building has a unique modern layout and can accommodate 300 number of students. The
building features 12 floors of typical rooms and a ground floor for all amenities. Each floor has 12
single rooms with the size of 23 square meters each.

The majority of blocks for the proposed UMT Residential College development are catered for
female students which comprises a total number of 5 blocks — Block A until Block E. Each Block is
designed to accommodate 300 students, making the total number allocated for the female student
is 1500 students. The typical design of each block comprises of 5 floors with 8 units of apartments
per floor. Each apartment has a living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 1 washing room and 4 rooms for 2
students in each room. Each apartment size is 85 square meters and each room is 11 square meters.

Besides that, the male students’ apartment blocks are divided by 3 blocks — Block G, H and I. The
male apartment block has the same typical design as the female apartment block. Overall, these
three blocks can accommodate 900 students.

Apart from that, a block of apartments for the B40 students is located at Block J. Having a total of 5
floors, this block also accommodates 600 students. The building block includes 8 typical units of
apartments for each floor. Each apartment has a living room, kitchen, 4 toilets, drying area and 4
rooms. Every room can accommodate 4 students, allowing a total number of 16 students per
apartment. All residential apartment block has a covered car park each.

The Student Activity Centre block is proposed to be located in the middle of the site to facilitate easy
access for students. With a total area of 2400 square meters, this block will be the focus area for the
students, providing places to eat, shop, and other facilities for students’ usage. The Student Activity
Centre block also provides a football field, 2 basketball courts and 5 multi-purpose courts.
