ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the assessment of modern technology on the teaching and learning
of business education in University of Benin, Edo State. Four research questions guided
the study, the study employed a descriptive survey research design and this was carried
out in the University of Benin, Edo State. The population of the study comprised of one
hundred and forty (140) 400 level business education students in University of Benin, the
entire population was used as sample for this research. The study made use of
questionnaire as instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by my
project supervisor and two other lecturers in the department of Vocational and technical
education. The reliability of the instrument was 0.80 and it was calculated using test-
retest method. The copies of questionnaire were administered by the researcher and the
questionnaire were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the
study revealed that the respondents all agreed that the internet, computer, audio tape
recorder and projector has positive influence on the teaching and learning of business
education courses. The researcher recommended that the federal and state government
should as a matter of priority motivate lecturers through the provision of adequate funds
for the procurement of modern facilities and equipment ,the government should provide
standby generators and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) to tackle the problem of
inconsistent power supply and that technologist and technicians should be employed by
the government to take care of modern technological facilities and equipment and also
carryout routine repairs within the institution.
