Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah Scholastic Award
Awarded to students who have achieved outstanding results in their individual academic programme upon
completion of their programme.
VALUE: RM2,000
Each recipient of the award will also receive a Scholastic Award Certificate
Selection: The award is NOT open for application. It is presented to students with outstanding academic
achievements. Upon completion of their programme in Sunway University, the recipients of the award will
be determined by a Selection Panel. If no student is adjudged during the academic year, the award will be
withheld. The decision of the Selection Panel is final.
The Chancellors Scholarship of
Sunway University College and Lancaster University
The scholarship is offered in the name of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, foundation Chancellor of Sunway
University, and Sir Chris Bonington, Chancellor of Lancaster University. It commemorates the affiliation between
Sunway University College and Lancaster University in the joint degree programmes in business, computer
technology, hospitality, tourism and leisure management and psychology.

1. The scholarship is a 100% waiver of tuition fees (excluding general fees).
2. The scholarship includes a two weeks’ study visit to Lancaster University, UK during the final year of
studies (Year 3). Costs covered by Sunway University College and Lancaster University are
(i) air fares (economy class) from Kuala Lumpur to Lancaster University and return, and
(ii) accommodation at Lancaster University.

For Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship and
Continuing Scholarship
1. The scholarship is offered strictly to full-time registered students at
Sunway University College.
2. Offer of scholarship will only be made when the University College
receives the actual results.
3. Scholarship is awarded in the form of tuition fee waiver.
4. The Scholarship is neither transferable nor exchangeable for cash.
5. The award will be terminated upon completion of the study period
specified by Sunway University College.
6. Students receiving scholarships from other bodies are not eligible for this
scholarship.
7. The final decision to grant a scholarship is at the sole discretion of the
Scholarship Committee of Sunway University College.
8. English 1119 will not be considered when granting the scholarship.
9. All scholarship recipients must attend the scholarship ceremony to receive
the scholarship.
10. Students must meet the programme entry point prior to be eligible for
scholarship.
11. Sunway University College reserves the right to change the Terms &
Conditions of the scholarships as and when required without prior notice.
For Pre-University/Foundation/Nursing Programmes:

For Diploma Programmes:
1. The tuition fee waiver will be implemented in the 2nd semester of the
programme.
2. Full scholars need not make further semester tuition fee payments until
the full utilisation of the total 1st year tuition fee.
3. Full scholars upon utilising the total of the 1st year tuition fee, will
continue fee payments for the remaining semesters.
For American Degree Transfer Program:
1. The tuition fee waiver will be implemented from the 2nd semester of the
programme until the full utilisation of the scholarship amount granted.
Scholars upon utilising of the total amount granted shall continue to
make payments on the remaining billable amounts.
2. Full scholars need not make further semester tuition fee payments until
the full utilisation of the total 30 credit hours tuition fee. Scholars upon
utilising the total of the 30 credit hours tuition fee will continue tuition fee
payments for the remaining semesters.
For Degree Programmes:
1. The tuition fee waiver will be implemented from the 1st semester of the
programme onwards.
2. Scholars are required to reapply for the continuation of the scholarship
through their programme offices on a yearly basis.
3. There shall be no upgrading of scholarships.
4. Decision on the continuation of the scholarship is at the sole discretion
of the Head of Department of the respective programme and the
Scholarship Committee.
5. For UEC scholars:
- Points calculated based on 5 subjects, exclusive of Chinese, Chinese Any absenteeism from lectures and/or internal examinations must be

Sunway College JB or Sunway College Ipoh.
3. The tuition fee waiver will be implemented from the 1st semester of the
programme onwards.
4. Scholars are required to reapply for the continuation of the scholarship
through their programme offices on a yearly basis.
5. There shall be no upgrading of scholarships.
6. Decision on continuation of the scholarship is at the sole discretion of the
Head of Department of the respective programme and the Scholarship
Committee.
7. Scholars must maintain the following minimum grades as part of the
criteria for Continuing Scholarships:
a. Scholars on 30% scholarship must meet a minimum of 65% grade due, which are calculated on a pro rata basis. This is based on the valuable

For Sports Scholarship
1. Qualified candidates MUST represent the University College in MAPCU
games or any other tournaments as and when required by the University
College Management.
2. Sports Scholarship athletes must maintain good grades.
3. Athletes are required to contribute at least 20 hours per year on
conducting sports training and workshop (exclude competition hours).
4. The Sports Scholarship is reviewed on a yearly basis. Scholarships can be
revoked based on the discretion of the University College.
For ACCA/Sunway TES Scholarship
1. Applicants may accept ONE scholarship only.
2. Offer of the scholarship will only be made upon receipt of the actual
results.
3. Scholarship includes Tuition, Examination, Annual Subscriptions and Initial
Registration Fees. General and LAN fees must be settled in accordance to
the prevailing policy on Enrolment and Fees.
4. The terms of the scholarship disbursements are determined by Sunway
University College.
5. The scholarship is neither transferable nor exchangeable for cash.
6. Successful applicants are subject to a review every six months. Students
are required to pass all the examinations and sustain high academic
standards in order to retain the scholarship. In exceptional circumstances
the scholarship may be withdrawn (e.g. in the event of a gross
misconduct).
7. Renewal of the scholarship is dependent on lecture attendance, academic
performance and behavioural conduct in Sunway University College.

College Management. Recipients who are unable to attend said
performance are required to submit a written explanation and supporting
documents to the Student Services Department stating the reason(s)
for absenteeism. Documents must be acceptable to Sunway University
College.
11. The recipients may also be requested to assist in advertising promotional
activity as and when required by the University College Management.
12. Recipients are required to reapply for the continuation of the scholarship
through Student Services Department on a yearly basis.
13. Should the recipient be in acceptance of any other scholarship of any
amount whatsoever, the scholarship will be automatically terminated. The
Sunway University College reserves the right to claim for the recovery of
the fees due, which are calculated on a pro rata basis. This is based on the
valuable benefit received.
14. Recipient of the scholarship is required to comply with all standard
Sunway University College course regulations.
15. The scholarship will be terminated upon completion of the study period
specified by Sunway University College.
16. The Sunway University College reserves the right to alter, add or delete
any of the terms and conditions and the scholarship scheme at any point
in times as and when the Sunway University College deems necessary.
17. Non compliance to any of the terms and conditions related to the relevant
scholarship would amount to a breach of contract.
18. In the event of a dispute on the eligibility for the scholarship the decision
made by the Scholarship Committee is final.
The Application deadlines are 2 weeks after commencement of programmes or 2 weeks after the
release of actual results.
For Sunway University College Community Bursary
1. This bursary is applicable for new students only.
2. This bursary is offered from the commencement of the programme
and will be deducted from the semester tuition fee only. The bursary
does not cover general fees, exam fees, re-sit or repeat of subjects and
accommodation fees which must be paid by all bursary recipients where
applicable.
3. Applicants who had won scholarships or bursaries in any competition
organised by Sunway University College may combine the amount
won with the Sunway University College Community Bursary up to the
maximum amount of the total tuition fee of the Diploma programme only.
4. Students will have to meet all required entry requirements of the
programme enrolled.
5. This bursary is non-transferable nor exchangeable for cash or other
alternatives. It is strictly a tuition-fee waiver.
6. This bursary will be terminated upon completion of the normal prescribed
study period specified by Sunway University College.
7. Sunway University College reserves the right to terminate this bursary
should the student fail to abide by the rules and regulations stated in the
student handbook.
8. In the event that the bursary recipient withdraws from the programme,
is suspended or terminated by Sunway University College at any point
in time, before the completion of the programme, the scholarship shall
automatically be terminated. However, if recipients on the above-
mentioned status are due to medical reasons, they may retain their
scholarships, subject however to the absolute discretion of Sunway
University College by providing the supporting medical report from
Doctor acceptable to Sunway University College.
9. Applicants must be of respectable character and should not have any
criminal convictions or records and should not have been involved in any
misconduct which may bring Sunway University College into disrepute.
10. Sunway University College reserves the right to decide on the number of
bursaries to be awarded.
11. All bursaries offered by Sunway University College to any student are
at the absolute discretion of Sunway University College Scholarship
Committee.
12. Terms and conditions are subject to change without prior notice. All
decisions made by the management of Sunway University College on
matters not covered above are final and binding.
For Sibling Discount
1. Applicants must be registered as Sunway University College students.
2. Not applicable to government sponsored, corporate sponsored or
Language programmes.
3. Offer of discount will only be made when the University College receives
the following documented proof:
a. Certified photocopies of Birth Certificates for both siblings;
b. Certified photocopies of IC for both siblings;
c. Certified photocopies of Completion Certificate, Academic Transcripts
or Current Student ID Card from Sunway University College of a sibling.
4. The discount is in the form of a tuition fee waiver. It shall not be deducted
from any general, registration, application or exam fees.
5. This discount is provided as a “One Time Off Deduction” for new registrants
only. It will not be eligible for returning, repeating or continuing students.
6. The final decision to grant the discount is at the sole discretion of the
Admissions Department of Sunway University College.
7. This discount is eligible for all Malaysians and International students.
