Introduction

The optimal production level is the goal of every livestock production activity
including broiler chickens. One of the main factors in achieving this is the health of the
gut of broiler chikens. Because the gut play an important role in the process of holding
the nutrition and health functions of broiler chikens. The use of antibiotic growth
promoter (AGP) turned out to have a bad influence as pathogenic resistance to both
specific and cross antibiotics, so that in 1986 it was banned in Sweden (Aerestrup,
2000). Butyric acid is a compound that has benefits as an energy source for the growth
and maturation of small intestinal villi, and has antibacterial abilities because of its weak
acidic nature (Sunkara et al. 2011). Monobutyrin is a modification of fat containing one
molecule of glycerol which binds to one molecule of butyric acid. This is so that the
pair of glycerol and fatty acids are not degraded by the lipase enzyme, so that the
antibacterial effect can be directed to the digestive organs of the back which are the
pathogens living. Furthermore, this study tries to prove the effect on the performance of
broiler chickens. Research conducted at PT. Sinta Maju Abadi, Pine Site at Farm Tenjo,
Tenjo, Bogor.

2. Material and Methods

The study used broiler chickens with a population of 18,188 at positive control
treatment (T0). In the treatment of T1 using 18,685 chickens treated with acidifier
(Acid Pax®) with a dose of 3 ml / liter of drinking water for fisrt 14 day treatment and
repeated at day 22 until finish every two days. In T2 treatment using broiler chickens
as much as 22,638 for treatment of Monobutyrin® with a dose of 1 g / liter of drinking
water just for first 14 days treatment. Maintenance is carried out for one production
period for 30-40 days. The parameters observed in this study is body weight, FCR,
cumulative age, mortality, performance index, lesion score, and foot pad score.

4. Conclusion
 Supplementation of monobutyrin decrease number of feed convertion ratio during
trial that give economic effect.
 Number of mortality in T2 (supplementation of monobutyrin) is better than using
acidifier during trial.
 Lesion score of T2 (monobutyrin) is better than other treatment (positive control
and acidifier treatment).
 Footpad score of is better after supply of monobutyrin.
