Not all the times, Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students are stressful with reading Christian
Aris Valix and Conrado Valix’s huge accounting books, go to library to have a group study with co-aspiring
CPA and recall the previous topics, and non-stop “puyat” nights to solve accounting and auditing problems.
Aside from their analytical and critical thinking skills, surely they have a winning talent in singing, dancing
and other talents to showcase in front of “Madlang People”. Now, it’s time to show to the audience of what
they got, not only in analyzing transactions, but also in performing.
“Accountants’ Got Talent” is a project organized by Divine Word College of Calapan, in partnership
with the NF-JPIA and PICPA, is the talent show organized exclusively for the students enrolled in
MIMAROPA who offered BS Accountancy, that aims to integrate the BSA students in the region and show
the hidden talents and skills of the aspiring Certified Public Accountants in the stage. They can showcase
their world-class performance through singing, dancing, theatrical play, acrobatic exhibition and some
other unusual talent. This activity will be able to enhance the confidence of every BSA students and show
off that they are not just intelligent in making financial statements, but also talented and a “total
performer”.
Moreover, the project will be conducted on the 10th day of January, 2019 at DWCC Gymnasium. The
participating schools for the said event are Divine Word College of Calapan, Divine Word College of San
Jose, Palawan State University, Holy Trinity University, John Paul College and Romblon State University.
Each participating schools have a maximum of 3 representatives for the talent show, either solo, duo, or
group act. This will be the one-night celebration of all the BS Accountancy students from different schools
in MIMAROPA and have a chance to talk, to hang out and to have a photo opportunity with them. Aside
from the talent competition, there will be live performances of the Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 2 Grand
Champion, Janine Berdin and the first runner-up of the The Voice Kids Philippines Season 1 from Team
Sarah and dubbed as “D’ Total Performer”, Darren Espanto. The cost of entrance tickets is P 600 for VIP and
P250 for regular. The proceeds of the entrance tickets will be given to the Bantay Bata 163 Foundation.
Accountancy Students. The significance of the project to the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students
is to boost their self-confidence in showcasing their talents and skills and aside from completing the
accounting cycle of merchandising and servicing firm, to overcome their fear in the stage or so-called “stage
fright”, and to give an overall entertainment for the people who are watching and end the curiosity that
future accountants are not talented. Moreover, this will be the starting point for the fellow aspiring CPAs to
encourage them of not hiding their God-given talents and to influence them to join the second cycle of the
“Accountants’ Got Talent” and will be possible in 2020.
Accountancy Professors & Deans. The significance of the said activity to the accountancy professors and
deans is to enlighten and surprise them that their students are not only blessed with analytical and critical
thinking skills, but also have their world-class talents.
Divine Word College of Calapan. The significance of the talent show to the institution is to uphold the
core values of DWCC which are the “Integrity” and “Social Responsibility” and have a good impression that
the school is a good implementor of the academic and co-curricular activities and events like “Accountants’
Got Talent”.
NF-JPIA & PICPA. The significance of the project to the cooperating agencies, NF-JPIA and PICPA, is to
convince them to maintain the partnership with DWCC for the seminars/workshops, team-building
activities and talent show like “Accountants’ Got Talent”.
Parents. The significance of “Accountants’ Got Talent” to the parents of the BSA students is to help their
children to gain self-confidence and to be the best they can be. There are times that they’ve got depressed
with their failing grades since the policy for BS Accountancy in every schools is strictly followed, moreover
this activity can be a stepping stone for the parents to build up the perseverance and commitment of the
BSA students both in academics and non-academic activities.
Bantay Bata 163 Foundation. The significance of the said activity to the main beneficiary of the project is
to provide financial assistance to the children who isn’t capable to subsidize their everyday needs in terms
of health, education, shelter and livelihood. The portion of proceeds of the ticket sales of “Accountants’ Got
Talent” will be directly given to this organization.
General Public. The significance of this event to the general public is to give them fun and entertainment
such as the performance of aspiring CPAs in the stage and the live performances of Darren Espanto and
Janine Berdin as one of the highlights of the event.
VIII. Objectives
NF-JPIA. This stands for National Federation–Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants. It is the official
student body of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students in the Philippines.
PICPA. This stands for Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants. It is the accredited professional
organization of CPAs by the Professional Regulation Commission.
X. Expected Output
“Accountant’s Got Talent” will benefit all the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students from the
MIMAROPA schools, audiences who come all the way from their cities and municipalities and most
importantly, for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163 Foundation.
