CHAPTER III

METHODS AND PROCEDURES

This chapter presents the methods and procedures in


conducting this study. It discusses the research design,
respondent, instruments and methods of data collection and the
statistical treatment that were used to interpret the data.

RESEARCH DESIGN

This study used a quantitative research to qualify the problem


by way of generating numerical data or a data that can be
transformed into usable statistics using experimental method. The
experimental method is a systematic and scientific approach to
research in which the researchers manipulates one or more variable,
and controls and measures any change in other variables.

RESPONDENTS

The participants of the study were the Senior High School of


grade 12 students in AMA Computer College Naga. The participants
were selected accordingly and purposefully for this research.

The researchers ensured appropriate measure such as consent


and willingness to participate. All gathered data were transcribed
accordingly.

METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION

The researchers gathered information by means of interviewing


grade 12 senior high school students of AMA Computer College Naga.
The researchers conducted a fully research to the senior high
school to their opinions regarding the barriers on speaking English
language. The researchers prepare questions through surveys and
interviews as well, depending on availability of the respondents.
The statistical treatment used in this study was written
survey containing questions that will stimulate their true views
regarding the barriers on speaking English language as a whole.

INTSTRUMENTS

The researchers conducted a research study entitled barriers


on speaking the English Language. The use of questionnaires as a
survey method will be used to conduct this study.

Prior to administration, a permission letter was delivered by


the researchers to the principal of AMA Computer College Naga.
Thereafter, the researcher was endorsed to the learning
coordinator supervisors. Then the touch base for the respondents
was scheduled.

The questionnaire. The questionnaire is composed of five (5)


parts: the first part of the instrument was a simple profile of
the respondents identifying age and sex; the second part of the
questionnaire identified students behavioural aspect of language
attitude; the third part of the questionnaire identified students
mental aspect of language attitude; the fourth part of the
questionnaire identified students emotional aspect of language
attitude; the last part of the questionnaire is to know about the
benefits of learning English language
