About this task
You need to install Rational Application Developer Version 9.5.0.1 or a later Version 9.5 fix pack
before you can install WebSphere Commerce Developer.
Procedure
1. Follow the appropriate product documentation to install the software:
o For information about installing Rational Application Developer, see Installing
Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software.
o For information about installing Rational Software Architect, see Installing and
updating Rational Software Architect

Attention:

o When you get to the Location panel during installation, ensure that you select
the 64-bit architecture. WebSphere Commercesupports 64-bit architecture only.
o During the installation, a Shared Resources Directory is also created, unless you
already have a shared directory from a previous installation of a Rational
product. If you are prompted to specify a shared directory, enter a short
directory name, such asC:\IBM\IMShared, or use the default shared directory
that is specified by the IBM Installation Manager.

The installation operation creates an Installation Directory. Do not accept the

default installation path. Specify a short directory name, such as C:\RAD95\SDP.
The default installation path is too long for configuration with WebSphere
Commerce Developer.

Do not use a directory that contains periods ("."), spaces, or dollar signs ("$") in
the directory names.

o Do not select Create a profile on the Configuration for IBM WebSphere

Application Server panel.
o If you are installing Rational Application Developer, when you get to
the Features panel, ensure that the following tools are selected. You can select
other tools if needed.
 Web and Mobile developer tools
 AJAX, Dojo, and HTML
 Dojo Toolkit libraries
 JSP and servlet
 Enterprise developer tools
 Data access

Note: Not selected by default. Ensure that you select the Data
access option.
 Java EE and web services
 SIP
 OSGi Application
 XML

Note: Not selected by default. Ensure that you select

the XML option.

 Code quality tools

 Code Analysis
 Line level code coverage
 Test and performance tools
 Server tools
 WebSphere Application Server classic 8.5

Note: If you are installing Rational Application Developer V9.5

(not 9.5.0.2 or later), then the option is WebSphere Application
Server 8.5.

 Development tools
o If you are installing Rational Software Architect, when you get to
the Features panel, ensure that the following tools are selected. You can select
other tools if needed.
 Code development and quality tools
 Data tools
 Extension for SOA and WebSphere
 Enterprise developer tools
 Java EE and web services
 XML
 Server tools
 WebSphere Application Server classic 8.5.5
 Development tools
o WebSphere Application Server V8.5 Liberty features (such as Liberty Core and
Liberty Profile tools) are not needed.
2. If you plan on creating WebSphere Commerce services, then install the Java Emitter
Template (JET) package after you finish installing Rational Application Developer or
Rational Software Architect. For more information, see Installing the Java Emitter
Template (JET) package.

If you did not install the latest fix pack during the initial installation of Rational Application
Developer, then complete the following step.

3. Install the latest fix pack for Rational Application Developer Version 9.5. At minimum,
you need to install Fix Pack 1.
