Math 10C Factors and Products Unit Plan

Factors and Products Unit Plan 10

Title of Unit Grade Level
Math 11-12 days
Subject Time Frame

RATIONALE

I have set up this unit differently from how the textbook is laid out. We will start with GCF and LCM but then transition into multiplication of
polynomials. After the quiz we will then cover the material on factoring polynomials. This will hopefully give students more time to cement
their knowledge with multiplication before moving onto factoring and cause students to perform better in this unit. The textbook flips back
and forth between factoring and multiplying but this can be confusing for students. Teaching the unit in the same order as the textbook
might not give students enough time to fully understand factoring before moving on to multiplying. Factoring can also be a tough concept
for students to grasp so focusing consecutive time on it should also help students better understand.
