1.1 Purpose
This document applies to the installation of the VATC system.
2 Overview
2.2 Components
-On the A and B Boards the System Installer will install the scripts, configuration files, and
binaries necessary for the VATP Software.
-On the C Board the System Installer will install scripts, configuration files, and binaries
necessary for the VATO and Dispatcher Software.
3 Installation Information
4 Installation Instructions
This procedure is largely automated. After some initial setup, the process takes care of
itself until the software has been completely installed. The following must be observed
during installation
You MUST NOT perform any key presses in the serial terminal while the automated
portion of the install is in progress unless prompted (you will be asked to enter the Vehicle
ID and VATC Rack Number later in the installation). This could leave your device in an
unusable and unrecoverable state. If this happens, it’s possible that JTag / SPI
programmer intervention will be needed, which is difficult.
You MUST NOT power down the device, or unplug any connections between the laptop
and the target while programming is happening.
All that aside, the installation is actually quite simple and easy to do if you take your time,
double check each step, and are careful in the procedure.
3. Plug the network cable into one of the ports on the right side of the Net IO card and connect this
to the computer being used to program the boards.
NOTE: The GSP2 installation has this address as 192.168.2.1, which it needs to be. For SW
application installation, it needs to be 192.168.1.1. It is probably easiest if the Ethernet adapter
has both 192.168.2.1/255.255.255.0 as well as 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0. You can do this by
adding an IP using the “Advanced…” button shown above.
TFTP is pointing to the correct directory by pressing the Show Dir button and making sure you
see the installation tars.
6. Open Tera Term and select TCP/IP, enter the correct IP, and press Ok
9. Go through questions for installation. The board (A/B/C) will be automatically detected by the
prompt text. The questions include
o
Network to install over (typically choose 192.168.1.xxx)
10. Wait for installation to complete. A message box with “Finished” appears briefly, and once the
prompt text stops, the installation is complete.
