III. Procedure :
A. Preliminary Activities
1) Opening prayer

4) Drill:
Reading a short story
5) Motivation : Skill Game
 Call a student in the class to arrange the sequence of the
story on the board .
B. Developmental Activities / Lesson proper
1) Presentation : Show the sequence chart on the board .

Direction : Arrange the events to form a story . Write each event in the appropriate box in the
chart .

Story A.

- When the two reached the other side of the street , the old woman gave maria a big seed .
it was her way of thanking her .
- Maria saw an old woman who was having a hard time crossing the street.
- When maria got home , she planted the big seed . the next morning she found a money
tree in the place where she had to put the seed !
- She approached the old woman and offered help and the latter gladly accepted the offer .

Direction: Identify the main idea of the story

The Milkmaid

Mutya , the milkmaid , was going to the market carrying a huge pail of pure milk on her head . She
hummed a happy tune while walking . As she went along , she began thinking of what she would
do with the money she would get for the milk . “I’ll buy some chicken from Mang Tomas ,” said
she , “and they will lay eggs each morning , then I will sell the eggs to the mayor’s wife . with the
money that I will get from the sale of the eggs, I’m sure I can buy myself a cute dress and a hat;
and when I go to the market I would be a muse . Won’t all the young men come up and speak to
me! Ana will be that jealous, but I don’t care . I shall just look at her and toss my head like this .”
As she spoke, she tossed her head back, the pail fell down, and all the milk was spilled. She had to
go home and tell her mother what happened.

3) Analysis:
1) What did Mutya plan to buy with her
money?
2) How did she feel about the spilt milk?
3) How do you think her mother feel ?
4) What advice do you think did her mother
give her ?
5) If you were mutya , what would you do ?
6) How can Mutya realize her plans ?

4) Abstraction:
Direction: Graphic Organizers are charts or visuals
which are used to represent what we think of they
can help us understand what we read. In
sequencing events , we use organizers like the
storyboard , flow chart, story train, chain of events
chart, and sequence chart .

5) Application:
The teacher will read a story then call a student
and identify the main idea ,events, main characters
of the story .

IV. Evaluation :

Direction : In a one half sheet of paper the students will make a graphic organizer using the
events of the story and write inside the box to show the story sequence .

V. Assignment:

Research on different kinds of Graphic Organizer.
