WSN applied to soil and environment conditions
monitoring
• The objectives of the project are:
– i. To provide a tool for monitoring the soil to determine the exact time for water irrigation and at
the same time to prevent the waste of water.
– ii. To develop a suitable system based on wireless sensors network to provide the information's
about the real sprinkle necessity.
• A WSN was developed using the ZigBee protocol, operating in 2.4 GHz, this
technology allow the development of a network with a range of 40m to 1.6km.

Processor generator Interface

A new circuit topology has been developed to implement the synapses of a Cellular Neural/Nonlinear
Network (CNN). This kind of network is remarkable for its ability in performing parallel processing and for its
high programmability of functions relating signals that carry visual information in the focal plane.

Circuit and layout of the neural cell developed in a 130 nm technology.
