Lesson Planning

Waynesburg University

Writing the lesson plan:

Translating thoughts into a plan of action
_____________________________________________
Pennsylvania Academic Standard(s) addressed during this lesson:
(Provide Standard number and statement)

3.2.10. B1.
Analyze the relationships among the net forces acting on a body, and the mass
of the body, and the resulting acceleration using Newton’s Second Law of
Motion.

Apply Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation to the forces between two objects.

Use Newton’s Third Law to explain forces as interactions between bodies.

Lesson Objective(s)
(Stated in observable and measurable terms)

The students will be able to…

1. Use Glogster to create a poster about one of Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion.

2. Be able to state and describe one of Newton’s Laws using text, animation,
and/or pictures.

Assessment Plan
(What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?)

The students will be assessed on their Glogster poster. The poster will be assessed on
content, mechanics, grammar, and attractiveness.

Materials:

Materials needed include access to a computer.

Inclusion Techniques for Students with Special Needs:

Students with special needs will have the option to draw or write their poster with the
help of a model poster or a fill in the blank
Enrichment Techniques:
Students will be challenged to create a second poster that uses features of Glogster that
they did not already use in their first poster. Their second poster can be on the same law
or on a different one.

Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that

ALL students have access to and are able to participate in the lesson):

Students with fine motor skills or other learning disabilities may have the option to create
their poster using paper and makers and poster board. This should be used only to allow
all students entry into the lesson.

Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:

The teacher will present their Glogster Poster, which present all three laws. All the
students too explore the teacher’s poster on Glogster, watch the video and read the laws.
Ask the students to write down three eye-catching details. Share some of the students’
responses. This should lead into a discussion about what the student posters should look
like and teacher expectations.

Detailed Teaching Sequence:

(Provide sufficient detail that would enable a substitute to effectively present this lesson.
Bulleted statements are preferred)

• Share teacher poster

• Discuss elements of teacher poster
• Discuss expectations of student poster (Use Rubric)
• Allow students time to explore Glogster
• Instruct students to create poster on one of Newton’s Three Laws of Motions

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities

Students will create Glogster Poster on one of Newton’s Three Laws of Motion. This is
an introductory activity. The students should state the law, describe the law, explain how
it is seen in real life, and include a video. The poster should be creative, original, contain
no grammatical errors, and be visually appealing.

Closure: Students posters will be displayed on the computer screens. Students will rotate
computers. They will visit two posters. At each poster they will leave at least two
comments: one compliment about the poster and one constructive criticism about the
poster.
