empowering skills is vital (Paster, 2010). Due to major knowledgeable workforce would
prefer to work under freedom condition with great responsibilities.ssss

countries which leader with knowledge of outsourcing will benefit Semco as it can focus
on business activities it competences of.

Brazil is one of the global markets which result in a growth economic index. For
example, GDP growth is 7.5%; Foreign Direct Investment is 3.0%; Inflation rate is
2.06%, etc. (Itaú Unibanco Macro Research, 2010). As a result, the most important skill
needs for Semco leader is Change Management.

The leader should have knowledge in Environment sector such as Corporate

Clean Energy Investment Trends which is focus on energy efficiency result from the
company’s activities. (Carbon Disclosure Project)

Learning skill should be applied for Semco leader under the context of politics
because politics in Brazil in becoming more stability so there are many programmes set
up by the government to develop the country. These can benefit or create problems to
Semco so it highly requires a leader to learn the situations and forecast the future
vision.

Globalization trend affects Brazil significantly, therefore, there are many laws and
legislation taken place, for example laws on Foreign Direct Investment; Foreign
Exchange Market; Foreign Investment Registration; Mergers, Acquisition and Joint

legislation in order to operate the business legally and smoothly since Brazil has high
rate of bureaucracy and corruption to be avoided.

In the short run, Implementation Plan is the most suitable method for Semco to manage
and monitor the company activities. It helps the company to forecast the outcomes
before it is carrying out (IDRC) and identify and tackle the shortcoming problems both
with tasks and people. It provides the plan for the company in more detail as the
implementation plan basically include objectives, measurements, targets, responsibility,
time-scales, review, etc. It also helps the leader to develop certain skills needed to solve
out the problems in the future.

In my opinion, implementation plan is for a leader to start developing skills used in

small business activities and to prepare them for gaining more important skills in the
long term.

Long-Term Development

In long run, Balanced Scorecard is to be used to develop Semco leadership skills as it

monitor and manage the company in the wider areas, internally and externally.
Moreover, it is more functional because it divides the business into 4 main areas:
customer focuses on customer satisfaction, financial focuses on financial performance,
internal business process focuses on make the most out of resources and learning and
growth focuses on learning organization. In addition, it is more complex focus on the
long-term goal as company vision and strategy comes into term. (Learn.com)

In my opinion, Balanced Scorecard help to develop leadership skills adopted from short-
term stage and advanced these skills in a long-term stage which is more complex and
higher competition in business sustainability.
