Selfish love is when we do not love

unless we expect our love to be returned. St John of Kronstadt
‘Fair exchange’ or ‘retribution’ implies
money, praise, pleasure, social recognition
or even personal psychological satisfaction. ...And the Word became flesh...

Great and selfless though this kind of love might seem, in order to make us earthly beings into Heavenly Beings,
the motive is self-interest, in order to make us sinners into Saints;
and thus selfish love remains imperfect. in order to raise us up from corruption into Incorruption -
from Earth to Heaven;
Natural love concerns our natural sympathy, from enslavement to sin and the devil -
emotions or attraction into the glorious Freedom as Children of God;
as with parents who love their children from Death into Immortality,
and love for our relatives and friends. in order to make us sons of God
However, such natural love is also imperfect. and to seat us together with Him upon the Throne
as His Royal Children.
Selfless Love concerns those O Boundless Compassion of God !
who unconditionally Love others O Inexpressible Wisdom of God !
without any particular self-interest at all. O Great Wonder!
Consequently, Selfless Love is Perfect astounding not only the human mind,
because its Source is our Lord God but the Angelic Mind as well!”
Who is Love Itself.
Selfless Love is the most important of His Holy Virtues,
for it continues into Eternity
and is vital to the Acequisition of Eternal Life
in His Divine Kingdom of Love.

There was once a man pleasing to God
