Introduction and Problem Identification:
Most people nowadays have pets, be it a dog or a cat.
But all pet owners share a common problem i.e.
cleaning their pets’ waste.
In many countries, there are strict rules and
restrictions against littering around streets and
roads by the pet animals. The pet owners need to be
very careful when they take their pets out for a walk.
The pet owners have to clean their pets’ waste and
sometimes it becomes really messy to clean it. So the
pet owners should have something handy and
portable which will allow them easily to clean their
pets’ waste and would be really helpful for them.

3
Intention:
To make a portable and a handy pet litter cleaner.

The IDEA behind (Why do we need it):

 The pet litter cleaner is a neater pet brand and it
fully contains the mess inside it.
 The pet owner does not have to touch or even
hardly see the mess.
 It holds a tiny recycled dustbin bag which
contains the mess. It also locks the odour.
 It finishes the job of cleaning the waste super
quickly.
4
Design Brief (Analysis):
The following are the objectives to develop a
portable and a handy pet litter cleaner:
1) Functional Objectives:
 Easily picks up the pets’ waste- The cleaner
should be developed in such a way that it easily
picks up the pets’ waste.
 Prevents spillage- The cleaner must contain a
tiny recycled dustbin bag which allows the
waste to easily go into it and remain in it.
 Portable, Handy and Compact- The cleaner must
be easy to carry around.
2) Ergonomics:
 Facilitate easy use and carry- The handle must
be designed for easy grip in such a way that the
owner can carry it around easily.
 Easy to clean- The pet cleaner must be easy to
clean for the owner i.e. the tiny recycled dustbin
bag must be easily removable when it is full of
waste.

Fabrication and Prototype:
 The pet litter cleaner is made of wood. First
take a piece of wood and make a hollow
rectangular box which should be open on one
side.
 On top of the rectangular box, make a small
cubical box with another piece of wood.
Attach a hinge on one edge of the small box
and attach another piece of wood of the same
size to make the opening of the small box. This
small box will contain 2-3 recycled dustbin
bags.
 The opening of the small box also has a
circular hole which allows us to take out the
recycled dustbin bag.
 Lastly make the handle of the pet litter
cleaner. Cut 3 small rectangular pieces logs
from a bigger wood piece and attach two of
them on the sides of the cleaner and the third
one on the top of both the pieces.
 Make the handle little tilted so as to allow easy
grip and to use the pet litter cleaner
efficiently.
 The cleaner is painted with bright colours in
the end.

How to use it?
The pet litter cleaner is a modern, innovative and an
environmental friendly product.
This product transforms the process of unhygienic
way of cleaning the pet litter into a much hygienic
way.
 First take out a recycled dustbin bag from the
small box mounted on the rectangular hollow
box.
 The recycled dustbin bag is then fitted inside the
rectangular box. The recycled dustbin dustpan is
then fitted into the box with the bag below it.
 Hold the cleaner with its handle and pick up the
waste with it which will store and contain the
waste in the recycled dustbin bag. After its use
remove the dustpan, take out the recycled
dustbin bag and dispose it off.

Budget of the Product:
The total budget of our product was ₹ 200.
It included:
 Wood
 Dustpan
 Recycled Dustbin Bags
 Hinges
 Tools
FINAL PRODUCT

11
Conclusion and Scope for Future Work:
 Our product is very effective, handy and
portable.
 It is very suitable for pet owners. Besides them,
it is also useful in this university since there are
many dogs and puppies living in and around the
campus.
 It has a simple and a minimalist design which
satisfies all our functional and ergonomic needs.
It is also aesthetic.
 In the future, we can replace the wooden
product with some other material such as
recycled plastic.
 The size of the rectangular hollow box can be
changed according to the requirement of the
waste.

12
Shortcomings:
 Not suitable for heavy or very runny wastes.
 The dustpan needs to be cleaned after each use.
 The efficiency of the bin increases if made of
Plastic rather than wood as the weight density
of wood is more.

MINI PROJECT

We made an adjustable bracelet that would fit on the

wrist and had a better hold of the nails and screws.
The product could hold the screws as it had a small
magnet inside the bracelet.
The product is very convenient for people who drill
since they do not require one more person to stand
and hold the screws for them.
