At the heart of the Premium Urban Sports Gear
concept is agile and highly responsive sports
performance that answers the rapidly changing
challenges of daily city driving. These outstanding
performance characteristics, evolved from Lexus
DNA, were embedded in the core of the NX.
An intense focus on the rigidity of the body
structure inspired the use of laser screw welding
and body adhesives, creating a highly-rigid
structure that provides an excellent performance
platform. An innovative pre-loaded differential
also leverages on this rigidity for precise steering.
Together, they deliver agility and responsiveness
that makes urban driving an ease.
An advanced turbocharged engine, lightweight
construction and an outstanding power output
is the recipe for sporty driving that’s not at the
expense of fuel economy. Hybrid models were
also tuned to create a unique NX driving feel that
is both exciting and satisfying, while innovative
shift controls harness the hybrid characteristics
to produce dynamic driving and excellent

There is no higher honour within the engineering
ranks of Lexus than a Takumi, or Master
Craftsman. Each is hand-selected for performing
their craft more skillfully and artfully than the
rest. Tasked with training and instilling pride
in the thousands of engineers beneath them,
this elite group of ten oversees every aspect of
development at the Tahara plant. They think in
terms of microns. Their margin for error, even less.
Though Hirofumi Koga has a specially calibrated
machine designed to identify imperfections in the

reducing CO2 levels beyond our achievements
on the road.

emissions, at the design stage we specify extensive
use of plant-derived plastics for components,

items, work hard to efficiently use resources to
minimise waste, and recycle any waste produced.
