ANTI DIABETIC
Drugs used in diabetes treat diabetes
mellitus by lowering the glucose level in the
blood. With the exceptions of insulin,
exenatide, liraglutide and pramlintide, all
are administered orally and are thus also
called oral hypoglycemic agents or oral
antihyperglycemic agents.
METFORMIN
Metformin, marketed under the trade
name Glucophage among others, is the
first-line medication for the treatment of
type 2 diabetes, particularly in people who
are overweight. It is also used in the
treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome. It
is not associated with weight gain. It is
taken by mouth
ANALGESIC
Analgesics include paracetamol (known in
North America as acetaminophen or simply
APAP), the nonsteroidal anti-
inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) such as the
salicylates, and opioid drugs such as
morphine and oxycodone.
PARACETAMOL
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a pain
reliever and a fever reducer. The exact
mechanism of action of is not
known.Paracetamol is used to treat many
conditions such as headache, muscle aches,
arthritis, backache, toothaches, colds, and
fevers.
ANTI CONVULSANT
Anticonvulsants are a diverse group of
pharmacological agents used in the
treatment of epileptic seizures.
Anticonvulsants are also increasingly being
used in the treatment of bipolar disorder
and borderline personality disorder, since
many seem to act as mood stabilizers, and
for the treatment of neuropathic pain.
ACETAZOLAMIDE
sold under the trade name Diamox among
others, is a medication used to treat
glaucoma, epilepsy, altitude sickness,
periodic paralysis, idiopathic intracranial
hypertension, and heart failure
ANTIPSYCHOTIC
Antipsychotics, also known as neuroleptics
or major tranquilizers, are a class of
medication primarily used to manage
psychosis, principally in schizophrenia and
bipolar disorder. Antipsychotics are usually
effective in relieving symptoms of psychosis
in the short term.
ARIPIPAZOLE
sold under the brand name Abilify among
others, is an atypical antipsychotic. It is
primarily used in the treatment of
schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Other
uses include as an add-on treatment in
major depressive disorder, tic disorders and
irritability associated with autism
ANTIBACTERIAL
An antibiotic is a type of antimicrobial
substance active against bacteria and is the
most important type of antibacterial agent
for fighting bacterial infections. Antibiotic
medications are widely used in the
treatment and prevention of such
infections. They may either kill or inhibit the
growth of bacteria.
PENICILLIN
is a group of antibiotics, derived originally
from common moulds of the same names,
from which include penicillin G, penicillin V,
procaine penicillin, and benzathine
penicillin
ANTIVIRAL
Antiviral drugs are a class of medication
used specifically for treating viral infections
rather than bacterial ones. Most antivirals
are used for specific viral infections, while a
broad-spectrum antiviral is effective against
a wide range of viruses.
RINTATOLIMOD
sold under the tradename Ampligen, is a
medication intended for treatment of
chronic fatigue syndrome. There is low-
strength evidence it can diminish CFS
symptoms. It is an immunomodulatory
double stranded RNA drug synthesized in
the 1970s and manufactured by
Hemispherx Biopharma
ANTIDEPRESSANTS
Antidepressants are drugs used for the
treatment of major depressive disorder and
of other conditions, including some anxiety
disorders, some chronic pain conditions,
and to help manage some addictions.
Common side-effects of antidepressants
include dry mouth, weight gain, dizziness,
headaches, and sexual dysfunction.
ESCITALOPRAM
Escitalopram, sold under the brand names
Cipralex and Lexapro among others, is an
antidepressant of the selective serotonin
reuptake inhibitor class. Escitalopram is
mainly used to treat major depressive
disorder or generalized anxiety disorder. It
is taken by mouth.
CORTICOSTEROID
Corticosteroids (cortisone-like medicines)
are used to provide relief for inflamed areas
of the body. They lessen swelling, redness,
itching, and allergic reactions. They are
often used as part of the treatment for a
number of different diseases, such as
severe allergies or skin problems, asthma,
or arthritis.
PREDNISONE
is a glucocorticoid medication mostly used
to suppress the immune system and
decrease inflammation in conditions such as
asthma, COPD, and rheumatologic diseases.
It is also used to treat high blood calcium
due to cancer and adrenal insufficiency
along with other steroids. It is taken by
mouth.
ANTACID
An antacid is a substance which neutralizes
stomach acidity and is used to relieve
heartburn, indigestion or an upset stomach.
OMEPRAZOLE
sold under the brand names Prilosec and
Losec among others, is a medication used in
the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux
disease, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger–
Ellison syndrome. It is also used to prevent
upper gastrointestinal bleeding in people
who are at high risk
COX 2 SELECTIVE INHIBITOR
Selective COX-2 inhibitors are a type of
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that
directly targets cyclooxygenase-2, COX-2, an
enzyme responsible for inflammation and
pain.
CELECOXIB
sold under the brand name Celebrex
among others, is a COX-2 selective
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is
used to treat the pain and inflammation in
osteoarthritis, acute pain in adults,
rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis,
painful menstruation, and juvenile
rheumatoid arthritis.
