Learning Objectives : 1. Understanding the use of Past Perfect.


Success Criteria : Students are able to form sentences by using past perfect correctly.

Description of the activities :

1. Ice Breaking and pray (5 minutes) – Group-:


- T prepares the ss and make sure they are ready to study.
- T greets the Ss and asks the class to pray.

2. Warming up (5 minutes) – group-:


- T tells the ss that will play bingo game.
- T explains how to play the game. (It’s an individual game. T will asks the ss to draw a
table with 6 columns. T will ask the ss to write 6 name of tenses, one tense in each
box. T reads sentences and the ss need to match the sentence to its name, when they
get 2 colums in a row ; vertical/horizontal, it’s bingo.)

3. Presentation (15 minutes) – whole class- :


- T tell the ss that by the end of the lesson, they must be able to form sentences by
using pasr perfect corectly.
- T presents the lesson by setting a scene. (What was yesterday? (Monday) Can you tell
me what activities you did yerterday? (I went to swmming pool and then I had bimbel
afterthat. So how will you say that in a complex sentence?
- T elicits, ss answer: I had gone (go) to swimming pool before I had (have)
bimbel class).
- T together with the ss analyze the sentence.
- T asks the ss when the acitivities happened and which one happened first. (Both
happened in the past, first activity is going to swimming pool).
- T together with the students analyze the form of the sentence. (S+HAD+VERB 3
(First activity) +…BEFORE + S+ VERB 2 (Second activity) +….)
- First activity is called past perfect.
- T gives two sentences ans asks the ss to complete it. 1. They _____ ______ (see) the
map before they left the office. 2. I watched the movie after I _____ ______ (hear)
about it.
- T makes sure if the ss understand the concept of past perfect by asking concept
checking questions.
- T does drilling by giving questions to be answered by the ss.

4. Practice (15 minutes) –individual- :


- T asks the ss to do the activities in the workbook pg 56 and 59.
- T explains to the ss how to do each activity by asking them to read each instruction
and make sure the ss understand what to do in each activity by asking them to do 1
number. Each activity is timed based on the level of difficulty of the task (usually 5
minutes each task, after the ss finish one task, t checks the answer as a class before
continue to the next task).

5. Production (15 minutes) –individual- :


- T asks each ss to write 2 sentence by using past perfect
- T collects the paper to be scored as assessment.

6. Wrap up (5 minutes) –whole class- :


- Conclusion: So, what have we learnt today? (T asks the ss tell the function of all the
tenses learnt that day)
- Reflection: What do you find difficult to understand? Why? What can you do to
understand it better?
