Planners Delay Transportation Plan

By Dick Myers
Editor

The Calvert Country Plan-

ning Commission has delayed
a decision on the county trans-
portation plan to give them
more time to review testimo-
ny and the staff more time to
make editorial changes. The
decision came after a Dec. 18
public hearing. Even though
only four people spoke, appar-
ently their comments caused
the planners some concern.
Ella Ennis, former chair-
person of the Calvert County
Republican Central Commit-

included three growth scenar-

Community Centers Eyed for South County

Park Plans Presented to Commissioners
By Dick Myers
Editor

The Calvert County Board of County Commission-

ers (BOCC) got their first look Dec. 17 at plans for two
parks in the southern part of the county. One, Cove
Point Park, has been around for a while and its master
plan hasn’t been updated for 20 years. The other will be
brand new – the Dominion Energy Regional Park on
179 acres donated by the LNG plant operator.
Parks and Recreation Director Shannon Nazzal told
the BOCC that the park designs by consultants Whit-
ney, Bailey, Cox, and Magnani, LLC (WBCM) are 95
percent complete but cost estimates for the proposals
contained in the plans have not yet been developed. Artist’s rendering of proposed events plaza and community center at the Dominion Energy Regional Park.
