MAIN PROBLEM AND REASONS FOR THE PROBLEM


Problems:
 New CEO supports a new manufacturing strategy: outsourcing
 Regis analytical nature and inclination to believe in her way of doing things that sometimes she ignores
the issues others may be facing, or the expertise they may bring to the table as valuable
 The choice between adopting an outsourcing strategy, or retaining manufacturing in-house, both Regis
and Ogilvie chose to crack into their respective positions and focus more on defending their own
strategy rather than figuring out how they could best work together for the benefit of the company
(Common Goal).
 She tries to seize control of the situation and threatens to resign if she is not allowed to determine the
appropriate strategy

Reasons:
 Differences in corporate values and approaches to management failed to be addressed prior to the
merger
 Regis is unable to manage upward with new CEO & VP Supply Chain
 There is also career and personal development issues, Regis as high-potential employee received two
promotions in one year, while now she is losing her control as she has to work guidance of VP Supply
Chain that why she is resisting

SOLUTION / RECOMMENDATIONS:
1) Under mentioned circumstances Company should move on one strategy either local manufacturing or
outsourcing.
 Integrate through a shared corporate culture, Like MNCs coming to Pakistan adopt local policies
along with their own practices. So same they should adopt best practices of each company to make
it better.
 Since outsourcing strategy benefitted Gemini in organizing business. It may be implemented in Excel
system as Excel requires professionalism in terms of technology and quality engineering services,
while work environment of the Excel system is better which has help Caroline Regis to receive
promotions & appreciation to put more effort.
2) Regis has already received an advice from Andreson on her promotion that she should try to put het self
in other people’s shoes. So, she should forgo her ego and go through cost vs benefits on outsourcing
cost vs manufacturing by keeping organization first in mind rather than resisting to maintain her
dominance.
3) Simplify the Dreanan and Whitney relationship, because to make this merger successful they both have
to accept and trust each other by considering organization goals
COMMUNICATION STRATEGY:
1) As merger has just established and motivation level of employees is down, so communication strategy
should be circuit approach which allow everyone to provide feedback and others point of view for any
change or resistant to that change which can be better resolved.
2) Regis should follow Warner’s advice not to become another casualty for this fight.
 She needs to respond positively to Mr. Dreanan, CEO through verbal and non-verbal communication
because he considers her someone he needs.
 She should also set a inform catch up with Margert for one to one communication (circuit approach)
with positive attitude to get more details on outsourcing cost vs manufacturing. This may help Regis
in understanding her new senior on personal level and her intention behind this decision.
3) This will help in developing positive relationship with both of them. So, she will be able to build trust
within team, may take part in important decision making and implement her new CEO’s strategic plan as
well.
4) Since, there are many things interconnected, so this employee collaboration may also cause Ron
Whitney to change his attitude towards Dreanan and his leadership skills. Then, he needs to sit with
Dreanan and clean their minds to work for organizational goal. Further Deanan, should also respond
positively and to get his strategy workout, he should persuade Whitney by selling the benefits of his
strategy to organization.

This way situation can be turned positive and achieve common organizational goal.
