2. Operation of H88

2.1. Starting the engine

• The speed control lever (throttle) set on middle speed.


• Turn the key in “preheat” position and observe the indicator light.
• Once the light switches off, start the engine.
• During normal operation adjust the speed control lever (throttle) to highest position.

2.3. Hydraulic brake

When switching off the engine, hydraulic brake is automatically activated.

- With a switch (see page 15, paragraph 4.3.) on the steering column, hydraulic
brake can also be activated, when engine is working.

2.4. Safely parking H88

Note: leave the machine only when hydraulic brake is activated!

• Always park machine on a levelled surface.


• Lower the boom always completely.
• Activate hydraulic brake.
• Ignition key to "OFF" position and remove.

2.5. Setting the first boom section

The first boom section shall be set at construction sites, where headroom is limited,
such as garages and roof overhangs. For this purpose, set the stop valve to the left of
the driver's seat, to the top position.

The lifting cylinder (2) can be fixed in any position, so that only
the second boom section (3) and the tip of the boom (1), can be moved up and down.
Recommendation:
Remove the boom cover to
have a clear view upwards.

3. Transport H88

3.1. Transport

• Secure the machine with tension belts or chains to the trailer (pic 1+2)

• Lower the boom fully and secure the clamp with belts.

• Activate hydraulic brake.

• Close and lock cabin doors and engine hood.

• Add the transport security device (pic. 3).

3.2. Transporting the machine

• Choose a level and solid surface for loading and unloading.


• Drive on the loading ramp at low speed but at the highest rpm setting.

3.3. Fasten the transport hook and lift the machine with a crane

Using the transport hook, the machine can also be lifted with a crane.
The transport hook is fastened to the boom. (see the figure)

Attention:
• Lift the machine only empty.
• Use only appropriate, approved lifting aids.

The lifting of the machine as follows:

• Cabin doors and engine compartment must be locked.


• Retract the boom fully.
• Mount the transportation securing device.
• Secure the lifting cylinder with chains. First raise the machine slightly off the ground
and then make sure that the machine is hanging levelled in the cables.

Attention: Block the boom with chains before loading. (see pictures)

4.3. Steering column and pedals

• The steering wheel (1) and the steering column (2) are adjustable. Release the handle
(3) at the right side. Adjust the steering wheel and steering column to any position.
Afterwards, tighten the handle again.

• The angle of the left pedal (6) (raise/lower the boom) and the right pedal (5)
(drive forwards/reverse) can be adjusted individually by turning the screw (4).

4.4. Heating controller

- The heating control is located to the left of the driver's seat.

- By turning to the left or right, the temperature can be regulated


easily in the cab.

5. Paving

5.1. Operating the joystick

When paving, clamp functions must be performed using the switches "Turn the clamp"
(1 + 2), "Open the clamp" (4), "Lateral pressing and closing the clamp" (5 +6)
(see pictures).

5.2. Work cycle (without shifting the layer) with semi-automatic

1. Activate semi-automatic (see also page 14/4.1).

2. Place the clamp on the stone package.

3. With using the switch "side pressing and closing the clamp" (5), the block layer will
be lateral aligned and gripped.

4. Press the left foot pedal back to raise the boom.

5. Lower the boom immediately after leaving the stone package.

6. Align the clamp at the paving edge and then lower the clamp.

7. The layer of paving stones is placed using the “open clamp ” switch (4).

8. Raise the boom and return to the package.

5.3. Work cycle (with shifting the layer)

1.Enable Shifting – “helper” (see page 14/4.1) and disable semi-automatic.

2. Place the clamp on the stone package.

3. With the button "close clamp" (5), grip the layer.

4. Press the button "side pressing" (6) the clamp opens slightly. Keep the button
"Site pressing" (6) pressed until the desired position of the stones is reached.
As soon as the button "side pressing" (6) is released, the clamp will grip the layer
automatically.

5. Press the left foot pedal back to raise the boom.

6. Lower the boom immediately after leaving the stone package.

7. Align the clamp at the paving edge and lower the clamp.

8. The layer of paving stones is placed using the “open clamp ” switch (4).

9. Raise the boom and return to the package.

5.4. Work cycle with " Automatic"

With the ’’Optimas Automatic’’ function, all clamp functions are performed fully
automatically. Important: Only enable the automatic when the clamp is open.

1. Move the clamp over the package with the ’’Raise - Lower’’ foot pedal.

2. Lower the clamp so that it is laying on the package of paving stones.

3. Automatic function

• The layer of paving stones is aligned sideways.


• The layer of paving stones is grabbed.
• The layer of paving stones is raised.

4. Lower the layer of paving stones after leaving the package.

5. Align the layer of paving stones at the paving edge and lower the clamp until it touches
the ground.

6. Automatic function

• The clamp opens.


• The clamp raises.

7. The next work cycle can be performed.

6.2. Hydraulic oil filler connection and fuel tank

6.3. Air filter and cooling water tank

- The cooling water tank is


mounted at the rear left side
of the engine compartment.

- The air filter is located on the


front left side. It can be
opened on the left side and
contains one large and one
small filter.

6.4. Closing / opening the 2nd stage

By turning the screw valves, it is possible to adjust acceleration forward and reverse of H88.
Check the adjustment carefully!!!

7. Setting the timing relay

7.1. Setting the timing relay in the switch box

The timing relays are set in the factory and then sealed.
The switch settings on the timing relay may only be changed with the permission of the
manufacturer.

7.2. Setting the timing relay

Z1 Press sideways hold 3.0 sec.


Z2 Advance sideways start 5.0 sec.
Z3 Advance sideways stop 0.3 sec.
Z4 Safety time 0.3 sec.
Z5 Close and raise grab 2.5 – 3.0 sec.
Z6 Press sideways raise 1.2 sec.

8. Service / maintaining the machine

8.1. Daily service

The machine should be serviced and maintained as recommended. The following checks
should be performed every time before starting.

Check the following:


• Operating panel
• Cooling water level
• Hydraulic oil level
• Tank indicator
• Motor oil level
• Function of the hydraulic brake

The machine must be lubricated at an interval of 25 – 30 hours of operation:

• Main lubrication for the steering unit


The grease nipple are located in the rear
part of the steering axle and on the rear axle.
The steering must be turned completely to
the left to perform lubrication.

8.2. Initial inspection (only after the first 50 hours)

• Clean or replace the air filter


• Change the motor oil and oil filter
• Check water cooler fins for dirt and grime
• Check the cooling water level and antifreeze (every year before the first frost),
refilling if necessary
• Check the generator V-belt tension
• Check the hydraulic oil level, refilling if necessary
• Check the hydraulic pipes and hoses, tighten if necessary
• Check the front axle bearings and adjust if necessary
• Check the instruments and operating equipment
• Check the function of the foot pedals
• Check the automatic function (if present)
• Check the tire pressure (4.0 bar front and rear)
• Check the machine for damaged connections and leaks
• Check the machine for damaged or deformed components and abnormal noises
• Replace any missing bolts and nuts, and tighten any loose nuts
• Check the battery and the battery connections

8.3. Additional inspections approx. every 200 hours

• Change the motor oil and oil filter


• Check the hydraulic oil level, refilling if necessary
• Replace the hydraulic oil filter (after the first 200 hours, after that every 1000 hours)
• Replace the fuel filter
• Check water cooler fins for dirt and grime
• Replace the air filter
• Check the battery and the battery connections
• Check the generator V-belt tension, and replace the V-belt if necessary
• Check the cooling water level and antifreeze (every year before the first frost),
refilling if necessary
• Check the rear axle bearing bolts
• Check the front axle bearings and adjust if necessary
• Grease the lubrication points for the front and rear axles in intervals of 25 – 30 hours
• Check the function of the hydraulic parking brake
• Check the tire pressure (4.0 bar front and rear)
• Check the machine for damaged connections and leaks
• Check the tire profile, replace tires if necessary
• Check the lights, replace if necessary
• Check the instruments and operating equipment
• Check the machine for damaged or deformed components and abnormal noises
• Replace any missing bolts and nuts, and tighten any loose nuts

Servicing / maintaining the machine

8.4. Inspections every 1000 hours

• Change the motor oil and oil filter


• Check the hydraulic oil level, refilling if necessary
(change the hydraulic oil every 1000 hours or once per year)
• Replace the hydraulic oil filter
• Replace the fuel filter
• Check water cooler fins for dirt and grime
• Replace the generator V-belt
• Check the generator, replace if necessary
• Check the cooling water level and antifreeze (every year before the first frost),
refilling if necessary
• Check the rear axle bearing bolts
• Check the front axle bearings
• Check the disk springs on the front axle, replace if necessary
• Check the linkage on the foot pedal, replace if necessary
• Grease the lubrication points for the front and rear axles in intervals of 25 – 30 hours
• Check the function of the hydraulic parking brake
• Check the tire pressure (4.0 bar front and rear)
• Check the machine for damaged connections and leaks
• Check the tire profile, replace tires if necessary
• Check the lights, replace if necessary
• Check the instruments and operating equipment
• Check the machine for damaged or deformed components and abnormal noises
• Replace any missing bolts and nuts, and tighten any loose nuts
• Clean the fuel tank
• Adjust the valve and tipping lever play

9. Accessoiries / Options

9.1. Tool bag

The auxiliary tools are located in the counterweight box.

9.2. Counterweights

The counterweights (4 x 20 kg) for the H88 are placed in the counterweight box.
(They are only necessary for extremely heavy paving units.)

Accessories / Special accessories

9.3. Mounting the paver joint filling unit and/or the broom

• The mounted equipment is fastened to the boom or to the cylinder mount, but
the roller broom can only be mounted using an adapter.
• The hydraulic hoses are connected to the green and yellow connections.
• A cable is mounted on the boom for raising.
