Books, Videos which I have read are marked by Astrik and Hashtag signs, like

this- *X and #X which have their following meaning-

Books/Videos which I have bought/photocopied and

read THOROGHLY have ASTRIK sign and Books/Videos which does not cover
much of GATE Aerospace Exam syllabus but need to be REFERRED for few
topics have a HASHTAG sign.

Here I am sharing everything you need to have for the GATE Aerospace Exam-

Academic books, video lectures and PDFs-

Also I have attached some links of the books you may buy (no advertisement, no
commision). It would be good if you could buy second hand books as they will save
you a lot of money or else photocopy those topics. Also it would be good if you
have at least one book for one subject (not PDF) in-hand.

I have attached some links of video lectures that are authentic and
reliable because now education has no boundaries and it's all on your fingertips.

For basic to advanced level standard books and videos-

Core (from Mechanical point of view) topics of Aerospace Engineering

(for undergraduate level specifically for GATE Aerospace Exam) includes-

1. Aerodynamics (12–15 marks)

2. Propulsion (12–15 marks)
3. Aircraft Structures (15+ marks)
4. (Aircraft Performance) Flight Mechanics, Stability and Control Dynamics (6–
8 marks)
5. Orbital Mechanics and Spacecraft Dynamics (2–4 marks)
6. Engineering Mathematics and Applied Numerical Computational
Methods (15 marks)
7. Aptitude, reasoning and english (15 marks)
Best books according to me (click on the links, you will be directed to the
corresponding links to buy these books or will be directed to the corresponding video
lectures)-

For basic Aerodynamics-

*Fundamentals of Aerodynamics* by J.D Anderson It's highly illustrative and

beautifully explained.

Other than this is Aerodynamics by L.J. Clancy.

Specifically for basic Fluid Mechanics- book by F.M. White

Specifically for compressible flows-

Gas Dynamics by E. Rathakrishnan

#Modern Compressible Flows by Anderson

For Propulsion

Hill and Peterson, J Mattingly , book by *Saravana Mutton & Cohen* is also
suitable for basics.

*Video lectures* by *Prof. Roy and Prof. Pradeep*

For advanced Turbomachinery Aerodynamics- Video lectures by Prof. Pradeep

and Prof. Roy

Specifically for Rocket Propulsion- Book by Sutton, *S.M Yahya. Elaborated video
lectures by Prof. K Ramamurthi and by *Dr. Kushauri. Also *Introduction to
Flight by Anderson covers basics of Rocket propulsion which has been explained very
easily.

For Aircraft Structures

4 Books-

Perry D.J, Megson , Bruhn, C T Sun

For basic to advanced structures I have attached a link to Krishna sir's answer, above
with Aircraft Structure point.

Videos- from YouTube academic lectures of Aircraft/Aerospace Structures from

UNSW.

For Aircraft Performance & Flight Mechanics as well as for Aircraft Designing

*Introduction to Flight by J.D Anderson or *Video Lectures of *Prof. A.K

Ghosh @NPTEL or YouTube are sufficient for this topic.

Specifically for *Dynamics and Stability and Control- Videos by *Prof . A.K Ghosh

Also, Flight Mechanics and Dynamics PDFs by Prof. E. Tulapurkara are good.

Other Books-

Airplane performance, Stability and Control by R.C.Nelson.

Airplane performance, Stability and Control by #Perkins and Hege.

For Orbital Mechanics & Spacecraft Dynamics

H.Curtis, *Introduction to Flight's last chapters by Anderson is also good for
beginners.

Refer #NCERT- class XI Tamil board for Gravity.

I have also made a short course in which I have covered every topic strictly as per
syllabus of GATE Aerospace exam. Take this for guidance purpose only and practice
and learn from standard books and videos.

Engineering Mathematics
Each and every learner will lead you towards these 2 books for Engineering
Mathematics preparation as per GATE exam. *One is from Made Easy and other one
is from Ace Academy.*

I would not suggest you to learn Aerodynamics from NPTEL lectures. They will make
you feel dizzy but few topics of Aerodynamics related to compressible flow and
Turbomachinery can be learnt from #Prof. S.K Som's video lectures at NPTEL.

Other online learning platform via MIT OCW (Courtesy Chris Lee)-

16.00 : Introduction to Aerospace Engineering and Design (An introductory course)

Unified Engineering (Sophomore-level class): Unified Engineering I, II, III, & IV(covers
structures, fluid dynamics, thermo, propulsion)

16.06: Principles of Automatic Control

16.100: Aerodynamics

16.83X: Space Systems Engineering

For Beginners
If you want just the basic intuition of these core topics your first choice should be
the video lectures from Edx and Coursera because they are not lengthy and are
quite interactive relative to the above sources:

From Edx-

Introduction to Aerospace Engineering: Astronautics and Human Spaceflight

Introduction to Aeronautical Engineering

Introduction to Aerospace Structures and Materials

Flight Vehicle Aerodynamics

Introduction to Aerodynamics

Engineering Mechanics

The Engineering of Structures Around Us

From Coursera-

I will update later…

On QUORA-

I have made a blog dedicated to GATE Aerospace Exam and Aerospace Domain
exclusively-

Vishal Sethi's post in GATE Aerospace Platform

Here is how I planned, prioritized and executed- What was your preparation strategy
6 months before the GATE exam?

In case if you are looking for exhaustive strategy-

GATE Aerospace Exam Strategy and Sources | Introduction to GATE Aerospace

Engineering (AE)

You will find more help like- Is there any online test series for the GATE
aerospace engineering? which will motivate and ease your load of preparation;
for that you just need to read my profile discription.
