ETHERNET LAN AND ADSL MODEM CONFIGURATION

ETHERNET LAN CONFIGURATION.

Setting up of IP Address ,DNS ,Gateway in the PC in WINXP/WIN 2000.
1. GO to START->Settings->Control Panel->Network Connections->Local Area
Connection.
2. Select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click properties and the screen appears as
follows. Please click the button against Use the following IP address.
3. Please enter the following data.
IP ADDRESS : 192.168.1.x (Where x can be between 2 to 254.)
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 192.168.1.1
Alternate DNS : 61.1.96.69
4. After entering the above data CLICK OK. In windows XP/Windows 2000, the
screen appears as follows after saving.

Setting up of IP Address ,DNS ,Gateway in the PC in WIN98//WIN Me/NT4.

1. GO to START->Settings->Control Panel->Network->Local Area
Connection.
2. Select (TCP/IP-> name of the card) and click properties

The screen appears as follows.

Please enter the following data against the particular menus.
IP ADDRESS : 192.168.1.x (Where x can be between 2 to 254.)
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP : 192.168.1. and Click ADD
DNS : 61.1.96.69 and HOST as BSNL and CLICK ADD.

Click OK and the Windows will restart.

Modem Configuration
Initially after setting up of the IP address , now the ADSL modem can be configured.
Generally the following parameters are being configured in the ADSL MODEM.

1) Use the value of VPI(Virtual Path Identifier) as ‘0’ (zero) and VCI(Virtual
Circuit Identifier) as ‘35’.
2) Enter the User name & Password pertaining to that subscriber as created at NIB.
3) Select ‘PPPOE’ in PPP settings.
4) Enable ‘ DNS’.
5) Select ‘LLC’ in encapsulation.
6) Enter Service name as ‘BSNL’ or ‘Dataone’ or any alphabetic characters.

HUAWEI MODEM SmartAX MT880 :-

1)Go to the Browser and type http://192.168.1.1 and enter. A dialog box appears as
follows. Type against User name - admin & against Password- admin and click OK.

The Home Page will appear as shown below.

3)Go to HOME and select WAN settings & click

The resulting page appears as follows.

4) Select PVC0
Select PPPOE button and the resulting page will appear as follows.

5) Enter the following data and leave other data as such.

1) Please enter the user name & password as created for the particular subscriber.

User Name: rttcmys1/2/3/4 Password: rttcmysore

2) Select click the enable button against DNS

3) Select Always On button for Max Idle Time
4) Click APPLY .

6) A windows pops up asking you to save and reboot.

Click YES and OK.
Wait for 2 minutes till the device restarts

7) Go to TOOLS.
Select System Settings.
Click SAVE & RESTART button.
Wait for 2 minutes till the device restarts.
Afterwards switch OFF & ON the modem.

Now the Modem configuration is over and is ready for installation at sub premises.

MT 841 MODEM Configuration

Open Internet Explorer & Type http://192.168.1.1 in the Address Bar of the browser.
When prompted, enter the User Name and Password. The Default Username and
Password are
Username : admin
Password: admin
Click OK.

Click Basic settings and select CONNECTIONS. Here all the PVCs mentioned are in
Bridge modes. Now delete PVC-0 value and create a new entry as show below.
Now select Wan Type as PPPoE and type 0 & 35 against VPI & VCI respectively. Then
type the Username & password of the subscriber.

Now apply. Save the Changes by pressing Save All Button in left hand screen.
To reset the modem to factory default settings

Under TOOLS-Configuration File- Click Restore Default.

Modem will restart with factory settings.

Configuration WA1003A Modem:

Login to the Home page by typing the default IP Address 192.168.1.1.
The screen will look as below

The Home page will look as below. Select the SETUP Tab for configuring the Modem.

Under SETUP Tab Select PVC-0 and Type PPPoE Check the options NAT and Firewall.
Then type the username and password. Type VPI = 0 and VCI =35 .Then check Set Rout

Apply the settings and Save and restart settings by navigating to TOOLS Tab.
The Screen will appear as below
