Three words to describe my 2019: MAHIRAP, PERO KINAYA.

I would say, I struggled a lot to survive this year, all the hardships that I’ve experienced, all the subjects
that I almost failed, and a lot more, too many to mention. Aside from those hardships, there were a lot
of best experiences and achievements I’ve achieved which I didn’t expect the most. I realized it was hard
to deal with all of these, I just believed in myself that “I can!” I cannot overcome this year 2019 without
God who gave me strength and wisdom and never let me down, without my family who built me up to
become a better and empowered individual and be patient to wait for me to prevail in my field I’ve
wanted for, and without my friends who always on my side to talk with and to make me laugh despite
several difficulties in life.

During this year, I have repeated a major subject, despite of this, I’m still a regular BS Accountancy
student, Second Year. I qualified 4 out of 5, both Academic Years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020. I ended
Champion on Academic Pentathlon together with Team Malbog (thanks to TRAIN Law and Law of
Diminishing Marginal Returns). I met my crush and took a photo opportunity, to Sir Jerome (Awieee, kilig
ang bata). I was elected as Secretary of the School of Accountancy for AY 2019-2020. I passed the Civil
Service Professional Level in just one take. I showed my talent (naks may talent si Koyaaa) as I
performed in the opening part of Paskong Divinista 2019: Pagtanggap for three consecutive days and
joined Theme Song Competition last Intramurals. My grandmother’s health condition is much better,
and not been attacked by her killer asthma several months after until now. My idols Sarah G and Angel
Locsin were engaged. Sarah and Regine will collaborate in a Valentine concert. Sarah G’s ‘Tala’ is shaking
once again, and her movie ‘Unforgettable’ was lit. And, I have created happy and unforgettable
moments with my family and friends in my own little way (too many to mention).

Aside from good memories, problems knocked me, not just twice, but several times. At first, I realized I
wasn’t productive yet. I’m too lazy to read several PDFs and accounting and law books (until now haha).
I’m always on a rush, procrastinating. I was really disappointed with myself; it’s also a reason I have
repeated my subject. Most of the time, I forgot my responsibility as an officer and I was not that
competent to lead, since I prioritized my studies a lot. I have a failed encounter with someone who’s
younger than me (forget ‘bout it, long story). I brought so many disappointments to someone who I am
close with. I didn’t make it to attend Shaniece and Sinjin’s birthday celebration due to conflict in
examination schedule which I considered as one of the significant family events of ours, and a lot more.
(too many to mention)

My message to self: Do not give up on your craft. You just started it, end it with a BANG. You must be
responsible on what you’re doing, and be matured. You’re now 19 years old, not a childish one. You
must learn how to save because you’re not balancing the ‘needs’ and ‘wants’, and your ‘wants’ always
prevail the most. You should be more strived and determined when it comes to studying. You have that
goal, and all you have to do is to be BETTER and GIVE YOUR BEST SHOT – to overcome this, less time for
Facebook, Twitter and IG. You must manage your time wisely. Prioritize the most important up to the
least. Lessen your karupokan, also your kapokpokan (haha). Spend more time with your loved ones.
Spend time with Lord every Sundays. Remain humble. May you continue to spread love and kindness to
your fellow. Learn the art of ‘deadma’. STAY STRONG. LOVE YOURSELF THE MOST.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE PERSONS BEHIND MY HAPPINESS AND LAUGHTER THIS 2019. I’LL TREASURE
EVERY MOMENTS OF OURS, AND LET’S CREATE BOUNTY OF WONDERFUL AND UNFORGETTABLE
MEMORIES THIS 2020. ALTOGETHER, WE WILL MAKE THIS YEAR AS BETTER AS WE CAN! HAPPY NEW
YEAR! GOD BLESS US ALL!
