DeKalb coaches hit milestone
Tucker boys basketball coach James Hartry and Southwest
DeKalb girls basketball coach Kathy Walton have both reached
400 career wins since December 2019.
Hartry reached 400 wins with a 69-68 road win over Morrow
on Jan. 21. As Tucker’s head coach, he is 400-179 (20-3 this
season) in 20 seasons and won a Class 4A state championship in
2007.
Walton, whose team is 16-6 and undefeated in region play,
picked up her 400th win Dec. 13 against Chamblee. She is second
all time in wins for DeKalb County, according to the county, and
has won five state championships.
Walton’s state championships at Southwest DeKalb came
when she won three straight state championships in 2008, 2009
and 2010, with the others coming in 2013 and 2016. James Hartry and Kathy Walton have both picked up their 400th career win this season. File photos
