Official Opening of College

On Thursday 12th of August , the Tamworth Community College was officially
opened by Senator Doug Cameron.
Senator Doug Cameron formally opened the New
College facilities by unveiling a plaque during the
opening festivities. President of the College John
White cut the cake and guest speakers, Tony
Windsor MP and Elder Neville Sampson welcomed 130
guests to the opening. A big thank you to all that
attended, and to the wonderful staff at the College
for all their help leading up to and on the day.

The staff are thrilled with the new building and have
settled in nicely. It was such a big job and it is now
business as usual with Term 4 about to get underway.

Administration Manager) and Derek Tinen who will be
getting married on 10 October .

Matt MacCarthy who will exchange vows on October
30. We hope you all have a beautiful day and don’t
forget to come back after the honeymoon!!
Art Exhibition
Our Annual College and Craft Art Exhibition
will be held at the College on the 15th and
16th December. The exhibition will be
showing off students work from 2010.
Employment
We are always on the look out for new tutors to
teach at the college. Do you have a skill that
others need? Part time tutors in accounting and
Business are always in demand. If you are
interested or know of someone who is looking to

WELCOME VIRGINIA!!
In August Virginia Caterer joined the team as
the Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Manager. Virginia started her working career
as a Trainee in Business Administration at the
Tamworth Base Hospital and has held various
roles including the role of Area Vocational Ed-
ucation and Training (VET) Coordinator for the
Hunter New England Area Health Service. It
was during this time that she developed her
love for education and knew that the VET sec-
tor was where she wanted to be. In Term 2,
Virginia became a Tutor at the College in Busi-
ness Services and is looking forward to getting
back into the class this term.
If you see Virginia around the College, please
make her feel welcome.

Pat’s Chat
At the Tamworth Community College, 94% of
our VET students complete their courses and
are issued with a qualification. We are
proud to have similar statistics to other
Community Colleges in Australia. However,
educational statistics throughout Australia
show that 72.9 per cent of students who
undertake Vocational Education and Training
(VET) qualifications are not likely to com-
plete their course. We are confident that if
you require training that the staff at the
College can organise training to suit your
needs.
