 CREATING A REFERENCE COORDINATE SYSTEM
•Two types of coordinate systems, construction and geometric

•Construction entities cannot be referenced outside the Sketcher

environment
•Geometric entities can be referenced outside the Sketcher environment

•User-defined coordinate system is used in blend features to align

different sections in a blend
 WORKING WITH SPLINES
Creating a Spline
Dimensioning of Splines

• Dimensioning the Endpoints

• Radius of Curvature Dimensioning Figure 15 Endpoint dimensioning

• Tangency or Angular Dimensioning

• Coordinate Dimensioning
• Dimensioning the Interpolation Points

Modifying a Spline

• Moving the interpolation points of the spline.

• Adding points to a spline.
• Deleting points of a spline.
• Creating a control polygon and moving its control points.
• Modifying the dimensions of the spline.
 WRITING TEXT IN THE SKETCHER ENVIRONMENT

 Tutorial 1
In this tutorial, you will import an existing sketch that you had drawn in Tutorial 3 of
Chapter 2. After placing the sketch, draw the keyway, as shown in Figure 22.

Figure 22 Sketch for Tutorial 1

The following steps are required to complete this tutorial:

1. Start Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0.

2. Set the working directory and create a new object file.
3. Import the section by using the Data from File option, refer to Figure 23.

the current file
4. Draw the keyway and dimension it, refer to Figures 24 and 25.

6. Save the sketch and exit the sketcher environment.

 Tutorial 2
In this tutorial, you will draw the sketch for the model shown in Figure 27. The sketch is
shown in Figure 28.

The following steps are required to complete this tutorial:

1. Set the working directory and create a new object file.

2. Draw the sketch using sketcher tools, refer to Figures 29 and 30.
