This dissertation analyzes conflicts between Guarani translation and imposed formal education in indigenous schools. It describes how Guarani Nhandewa transmit knowledge through narratives, emphasizing women's education. It also analyzes effects of bilingual school activities on indigenous youth and points to difficulties from lack of ongoing teacher training in indigenous and surrounding cultures.
