The purpose of this technical report is to explain why the MIL-STD-810G environmental testing is not required for
the Epoch 650. The environmental testing performed on the Epoch 600 and Hydra Platform covers the requirements
for the Epoch 650. Reasons being are the many similarities between the instruments. The Epoch 650 is simply a
revision upgrade from the Epoch 600. The analog parts (front end, power supplies, etc.) are identical to those on the
Epoch 600 and the PCB layout of the analog section is also identical. The only upgrades come from the digital
portion. The Epoch 650 uses a better DSP processor and FPGA, as used on the Hydra platform. These digital
upgrades have no effect on the environmental performance of this unit. The chassis of the PCB is identical to the
Epoch 600 and all the I/O access points are in the same exact location. It is because of these metrics that any
additional environmental testing for the Epoch 650 is not necessary. See table below that breaks down each
requirement.

that of the Epoch 600. The high
voltage power supply is also the
same. The analog parts are
unchanged and reuse the same layout
as the Epoch 600.
