BARREL WATER FILTER: puncture small holes in a 55 gallon drum, and fill it with

multiple layers of sand and charcoal to filter out impurities such as rocks, algae, lead, and
E. coli. Afterward the water is then to be boiled to remove bacteria, only then will they
have a safe water supply.
BATTERIE ARRAY: To get electricity, daisy chain twenty 12-volt car batteries in
parallel to maximise the current. They then convert the direct current to alternating
current using an inverter. It provides just enough power to last just a week, so a generator
will need to be built to recharge the batteries. Connecting batteries in series does not
increase the capacity of the batteries; it simply increases the overall voltage. Once your
voltage requirements are met, if space allows you can double the batteries in a parallel
connection- thereby doubling your battery capacity.

A power inverter changes DC power from a battery into conventional AC power that you

whenever and wherever you need it.
The inverter draws its power from a 12 Volt battery (preferably deep-cycle), or several
batteries wired in parallel. The battery will need to be recharged as the power is drawn
out of it by the inverter. The battery can be recharged by running the automobile motor,
or a gas generator, solar panels, or wind. Or you can use a battery charger plugged into an
AC outlet to recharge the battery.
GENERATOR: Scavenge an engine from a pressure washer or mower, a pulley
system from a ventilation fan, and a car alternator. The engine's drive shaft must turn the
pulley and the pulley must spin the alternator. Just like in a car the alternator converts
mechanical energy into electrical energy, which is needed to charge the battery array.

WOOD GASIFIER: To keep the generator engine running they will need a constant
fuel supply. One way is to scavenge for gasoline, but that method is dangerous and barely
sustianable. John C. proposed building a gasifier after noticing an abundance of wood. A
gasifier is two containers each holding wood scraps. The wood in the first container is
used to build a fire. The fire heats the wood in the second container releasing a
flammable vapor called wood gas. Because it’s vapor and not a liquid the wood gas is
will have to bypass the fuel tank and be piped directly into the engines carborator.

The wood in the smaller container will char and release a flammable gas combination of
Methane & Carbon Monoxide. (LEAVE IT OUTSIDE FOR VENTILATION)
