Chilean Halloween
When October begins kids and teenagers start
thinking about “Halloween” celebration party.
Stores and supermarkets are full of orange and
black ornaments, witches images, monsters
masks, ghosts, black cats, pumpkins, skeletons,
etc.
This custom started in the 80s and was brought
by the American who lived in Chile, but it was in
the 90s when it became more popular. Kids went
out in the streets asking for candies or any sort of
sweets and of course if they didn’t get any, they
would throw things like little rocks or eggs to the
houses.
Few years ago, and Idea came up about changing
the sense of this celebration. Some people
suggested “Chilenizar” this celebration by doing
some changes like: instead of having monsters
and witches products, they will have fairies and
wizards. There won’t be any more dark colors but
light colors. Of course there will still be costumes,
but not skeletons or ghosts instead there will be
animals, princess, clowns or famous characters.
The main idea was to have a positive, healthy,
fun "Fiesta de Todos los Santos.”

America’s Halloween celebration
Halloween is an annual holiday observed on
October 31. It has roots in the Christian holiday
All Saints' Day and the Celtic festival of Samhain.
The ancient Celts believed that the border
between this world and the Otherworld became
thin on Samhain, allowing spirits to pass through.
The family's ancestors were honored and invited
home while harmful spirits were warded off. It is
believed that the need to keep away the harmful
spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks.
Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a
harmful spirit and thus avoid harm.
Halloween activities in the United States include
trick-or-treating which is to ask for candies in
your neighborhood , wearing costumes and
attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-
lanterns, ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing,
visiting haunted attractions, pranks, telling scary
stories, and watching horror films.

POCAHONTAS
Pocahontas was a Native American woman.
She married an Englishman, John Rolfe, and
went to London where she became a celebrity.
We know very little about Pocahontas' early
childhood. She was born in Chesterfield
County, Virginia. She was the daughter of
Powhatan.
In April 1607, when the English colonists
arrived in Virginia and began building
settlements, Pocahontas was about 10 to 12
years old, and her father was the leader of the
Powhatan Confederacy. Pocahontas began a
friendly relationship with one of the colonists,
John Smith, in the Jamestown colony, and she
often went to the settlement and played games
with the boys there. During a time when the
colonists were starving, Pocahontas brought
Smith a lot of provisions that saved many lives.
An injury from a gunpowder explosion forced
Smith to return to England in 1609 for medical
care. The English told the natives that Smith
was dead. Pocahontas believed Smith was
dead until she arrived in England several years
later, as the wife of John Rolfe.
There is no historical record that Smith and
Pocahontas were lovers. This romantic version
of the story appears only in fictionalized
versions of their relationship.

John Lennon
John Winston Lennon was born October 9th, 1940
in Liverpool, England. When he was young, his
parents separated and he went to live with his
Aunt Mimi.
John didn't pay much attention in school, he just
draw sketches which later on gave him the
opportunity to go to an art school. There, during
this time, he met Cynthia Powell, who later
became his first wife.
At sixteen, John created the group called the
"Quarry Men". At this point, Paul joined the
group, and then came George and time after
Ringo starr joined the band.
It is said that the Quarry Men evolved into the
Beatles. Stu Sutcliffe, John's friend and an original
member of the Beatles, died suddenly of a brain
aneurism in Hamburg.
John married Cynthia Powell in August 1962 and
they had a son, Julian. The marriage didn't last
long and they divorced a couple years later. John
met Yoko Ono soon after and they got married.
In 1970, the Beatles broke up. After this, he and
Yoko Ono, carried on having solo careers. John
Lennon and Yoko Ono promoted peace by staging
"Bed-ins" peace campaign with speeches to the
press giving their famous phrase:"War Is Over! If
You Want It" posted on massive billboards in 12
cities all over the world.
John disappeared from the public eye in 1975. For
the next five years, be lived at home, taking care
of his new son, Sean, while Ono ran the couple’s
financial affairs.
In 1980, John and Yoko started work on the
album "Double Fantasy" but John's return was
short-lived. On December 8th 1980, John was
shot by a "lunatic" outside a hotel in New York.

The Summer Palace in Beijing is a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design, integrating the
natural landscape of hills and open water with manmade features such as pavilions, halls, palaces,

The Summer Palace was first built in 1153 and served as an imperial palace for vacations to the
