Reflections

Song of Solomon 6:9 My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of
her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her,
and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.
10 Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the
sun, and terrible as an army with banners?
11 I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see
whether the vine flourished, and the pomegranates budded.
12 Or ever I was aware, my soul made me like the chariots of Amminadib.
(Amminadib = "my people are willing" 1) an unknown person noted for the
swiftness of his chariots 1a) possibly not a person but should be translated 'my
willing people')
13 Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee.
What will ye see in the Shulamite? As it were the company of two armies.

The moon

De Mello says, "Words are inadequate reflections of reality." He imagines a man who
sees a piece of marble and is told that the Taj Mahal is made of marble. The man says,
"Well I can see what it is, it’s just a collection of these bits of marble put together;" or a
man who is given a bucket of water from Niagara and imagines that because the Falls is
just more of that water, he has somehow seen the Falls.

Phases of the Moon

The moon, of course, has no light of its own. It shines because it reflects light from the
sun. As the moon orbits the earth, we see different portions of it lit up, and the moon
appears to change shape. These changing shapes are called the phases of the moon. These
phases take place over just the half of the moon that faces the earth. (Remember, we only
ever really see the side of the moon that faces the earth, and we never see the far side or
dark side of the moon.) So over the course of a month which is 29.5 days, the moon
changes from new (which means you can't see it at all) to1st quarter (which means you
see half of the part of the moon that faces us) to full (which means you see all of that half
that faces us) to last quarter (which means you see the other half of the part that faces us)
and then back to new again. Get it? So in other words, when the moon is new, it means
that the sun is shining on the dark side that we never see. When the moon is full, the sun
is shining fully on the side that we always see. When the moon is at 1st quarter, the sun is
shining on only half of the part of the moon we can see.

Size
The moon, Earth's only natural satellite, is large as moons go. It is fifth in diameter
among planetary satellites, more than two-thirds as large as Mercury, and more than three
times the diameter of the largest asteroid. It is, in fact, over one-fourth the size of the
earth, with a diameter of 2160 miles (3476 kilometers).

Distance
Since the moon is 238,857 miles (384,403 kilometers) from the planet earth.

Brightness
Its surface is rough and brownish and reflects light very poorly. In fact, the moon is about
the poorest reflector in the solar system. The moon reflects only 7% of the sunlight that
falls upon it.

reality.

We art the reflections of the SON! We have no light of our own.

Jesus Said - John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the
world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Jesus Said - John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Jesus Said - Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill
cannot be hid.

LDO THEORY: Light dies out and stops as it travels further from its source. This
distance is different for different light sources.
Current THEORY: All light goes forever, until it is absorbed.

Light always radiates outward, as if you were to show a light through a small hole it
would get larger, the further away from the hole it travels.

gospel to every creature.

visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted
from the world.
