CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Included in this chapter is the background of the study about the enrollment system,

statement of the problem followed by the objectives that allows the proponents to have an

answer for the following problems that have been stated. Significance of the study is also

included in this chapter to present the list of the system’s user and how the system can benefit

the user. Significance of the study is followed by scopes and delimitations, in this part, the

preview of the system, and the limitations are stated. Lastly, definition of terms is presented to

explain the unfamiliar words used in this chapter.

Background of the Study

This project is designed so as to be used by any school, institute or university. The

project is an enrollment system through which students can access a website which allows

them to enroll themselves in the said school, institute or university. The advancement in

Information Technology will enhance the beneficiary’s enrolment process. It will have a huge

impact not only for the beneficiary itself but also for the enrolees or students who are willing to

enter the said school, institute or university.

The process of entering and verifying data of student to register on a particular school is

called enrolment. Instead of a manual process, enrolment system is built to record, and

retrieves student’s information. One of the features of enrolment system is to monitor the

student’s information; in this case the student’s standing will be easily monitored.
Enrolment System is very essential in a school. Administrators in some schools use a

manual process in recording and retrieving student’s information, they also have information

about student’s payment. In fact, they do all the record keeping just by using ball pen and

columnar sheet.

Enrolment System is a good example of a computer generated process. This can lessen

the workload and provides accurate information needed of the school. As a result, it will benefit

not only the student but the administration as a whole.

Statement of the Problem

The current process of the beneficiary is not technology related because it involves a lot

of manual process due to lack of technology equipment. Besides that, the generation of today’s

students wants to experience a technological related enrolment. That’s why the proponents

developed an enrolment system to help the beneficiary ease their process of enrolment.

 How can you improve the beneficiary’s manual process?

 What will be the benefits in using the enrolment system?

 How can you expose the students into modern technology?

General Objective of the Study

The main objective of the study is to develop an enrolment system for the administrator

and students that will result a secure and accurate enrolment. To replace the school’s manual

process of enrolment, to have an organized flow of transactions and easy work is also one of

the objectives of the study.

The system will make the work faster, easier and more comprehensive. This system is

generally for registration and enrolment of students.

Specific Objective of the Study

 To develop an enrolment system that will have a secure and accurate data

validation.

 Reduced paper works and reduced time effort is the main benefit of the

enrolment system.

 By using the enrolment system, the students will learn how to use a technology

and lessen the hassle by queuing.

Significance of the Study

This study is conducted to benefit the following:

 Students - This enrolment system will help the students with their enrolment by

just entering their details and information.

 Administrator – This enrolment system will allow the administrator to enter,

verify, and validate a student to register in a particular school.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The proponents are going to develop an enrolment system which will be tested by a

particular school. Then the fully functional enrolment system will be delivered to the

beneficiary after the evaluation and the system testing. It functions as system which allows

students with their enrolment and administrator to manage the student’s information.
Specially, the study aims to:

Develop a system that is capable of:

Students

 The students can fill up the information table.

 The student can enrol without a problem.

 Transaction

Administrator

 The administrator can view the student’s information and list.

 The administrator can manage the student’s data.

 Transaction.

Limitations

 Transaction does not support online payments.
